I am not a regular challenge competitor as my style of work is FAR too slow and I always miss deadlines lol! However finding myself with a couple of spare hours today I decided to enter one of my faves. I won't say which for obvious reasons. Anyway to cut a long story short I got to browsing the other entries and one of the card makers had entered this one card in a total of....wait for it....28! yes 28 challenges!
So my question is what is everyone's opinion on this? Should there be a limit? I know many sites specify that you can only enter that particular challenge, which imo is fine ie: their comp, their rules. But surely 28 is stretching it a bit?!
Twenty eight does seem like a lot. I usually stick to about one or two, but I don't have a ton of time to find challenges. I also like to make several cards, and don't usually enter mine into more than one. To each their own, though, I suppose.
alot of times you will find that a lot of the challenges are the same thing or anything goes so you can get alot of them all at once that way. i have talked to a few people who are very against combining challenges but i don't think it's a big deal. if it fits the challenge it fits the challenge. and frankly i like to challenge myself on how many challenges i can do at once. i find it fun. pile it on challenges are my favorite. now i agree that the person heading the challenge can limit how many challenges a person's card can be in to win stuff but i don't see why it's a big deal...don't understand why it aggravates people i guess.....
One of my blogging friends does this and it amazes me how she is able to keep up with all the different ones not to mention she is on about 5 design teams herself that she has to create for. I don't have anything against it or see anything wrong with it as long as the owner of the challenge or company doesn't care. One cool thing about combining and submitting to several different blogs is that you will get lots of comments on your project and visits to your blog.

I don't have any beef with anyone who can combine challenges successfully and the card actually FITS all of the challenges. As one who has hosted challenges from time to time (I had a challenge blog last year, and have guest-hosted challenges on others a few times), I did find it frustrating when I went to comment on an entry to the challenge and couldn't see how it related AT ALL. It made me feel like they didn't read/care about that particular challenge, they were just adding my challenge to their list (for the exact reason listed in the above comment). As long as I could see how it related in any way at all (even if it was a stretch), I didn't mind...
Wow 28 is a lot! It doesn't really bug me. I know personally for me I would want to make a different card for each challenge. I would be sleeping for five days straight afterward. I know if I had a challenge blog I would probably not allow that since I would want each of my readers to get a fair chance. Everything in the contest, challenge, competition world have different set rules. I know some challenges would like you to enter the same card you entered in a different challenge. It gives a bit of different perspective to their design field. I know that made sense to me, lol. Probably makes no sense written down.
Truthfully, I think we are talking about the challenge fitting the card and not the card fitting the challenge.
Whilst I'm certain people can design a card with a handful of challenges in mind, unless the 28 challenges are nearly identical, then it seems to me that the card was made and the challenges it fit were found. I have done it myself but only with one challenge. I wouldn't even know where to find 28. LOL! And I know another blog I frequent made a card and then exclaimed on her blog how is just happened to fit a "felt challenge" on Moxie Fab (several months ago). Nice happy coincidence.
Like another poster I have looked at challenge participants and wonder how they thought it fit the challenge. Sometimes it is obvious they got their weeks confused and put last week's into this weeks but other times it seems like they are chancing it to see if the blog owner/challenge organizer actually looks before awarding a prize.
Interesting post, as this topic has been on my mind lately! I came across a card today that was entered in 42 challenges.... Yep, that's right...42!
Like RiverIsis pointed out above, I think it was the challenge fitting the card and not the card fitting the challenge.
People are free to enter challenges any way they wish to, as long as they follow the challenge rules. For me personally though, I like to base my card around the challenge. For instance, the other day I found a fun sketch, and combined it with a challenge to use Santa, and 2 holiday challenges....so the card was made around the challenges. Isn't that what a challenge is? Making a card to fit the challenge?
Who has time to count how many challenges other people are in?
bwa ha ha! I thought the same thing! I have a hard enough time keeping track of challenges here on SCS. I can't imagine trying to keep track of all the challenges for the various blogs out there. I'm tired just thinking about it!

When they list them on their blog (as per challenge rules normally) and they take up the entire blog page I bet curiosity just took over - that and the blogger more than likely stated the card was for 28 challenges. Most challengers state up front how many. So I guess the blogger must have counted with all that time saved by not doing multiple cards!
