I was looking through all of my word and sentiment images and started to think - maybe I should seperate them into categories instead of keeping them in their "stamp set" box. Like have a birthday, congrats, thank you, in their own boxes - does anyone else do this? I think it might help me see everything better when I'm getting ready to make a card - but the AR part of me doesn't want to separate the stamp sets. It would jumble up my sets, but maybe it would be worth it.
I'll be watching this poll. I dont mix sets, but do have a stamped index binder where I do have all the happy birthday, verses, etc stamped on their own pages that I often refer to.
I'm somewhat inconsistent and separate some sentiments but not others. Sets that are all sentiments (Warm Words, Sincere Salutations, Riveting) get broken up and stored in the appropriate drawer with like sentiments. Sets like Like it a Latte and Artfully Asian, however, I keep together in the box, but I do cross-reference the sentiments on the appropriate page of my stamp index so I don't forget about them when the sentiment might be useful. Hope that makes sense!
I do keep all mine in original boxes. The non-SU! stamps, I keep in boxes with like size blocks. This serves 2 purposes. One if I just need an image of a particular size, I go to that box. The other reason - I have a binder with the full size of each image of every stamp I own. Once I find an image, I know it's size and can find it on the labeled box. Wokrs for me...
I separate mine out and store all my sentiments together by type (ex. Thank You, Birthday, etc.). I find that I use them much more this way and they are easier for me to find. Plus I can see all of the "Happy Birthday" sentiments at once without pulling out 15 different sets to see which style or size fits the card I'm working on. I keep the rest of the set together just pull the verse or sentiment out.

Good point about storing the same size sentiments in one box - I think I'm going to take the leap and seperate my sets!
I separated my sets about two years ago and I love it! I never would have remembered what sentiments I had if I hadn't done this. My stamps seem to get more use this way!

I don't separate my sets. I do however have a stamp index binder and that is priceless. All my stamps are in categories such as birthday, sentiments, words, backgrounds, Christmas, Halloween, nature etc. With the stamp index you don't need to separate your sets as each stamp set is numbered and then also numbered with that number in the binder. I just decide what stamp I would like to use then go straight to the set, very easy. It does take some time to make up the binder but well worth it.

I pull them from the sets, write the set name on the side in pencil then store them in a large open box for fast access. Unless it's a set of just sentiments which stays in the box but stored in my just sentiment sets area.
Also: Every image of a set is scanned or stamped and stored in the plastic box so it's easy to know what belongs where if I ever decided to part with that set. I do the same with unmounted images in the CD cases.
I didn't vote because I do both. My SU stuff I keep in together as it came. But anything non-SU that is wood mounted, I have a sentiments drawer for most of my sentiments but stuff for xmas is in the xmas drawer and love/marriage type stuff is all in a seperate drawer.

I keep all of my sets together because the style of the sentiment matches the set. I don't yet have enough sentiments that aren't part of a set to need to separate them out...the day will some day come though, I'm sure.
I have mostly separated my sentiments. I have them in su storage boxes by catagory. Birthday together, thinking of you, get well, Coffee, sympathy, thank you and baby. There are so few Baby anything that I actually keep the 3 images with them. Some sets I keep together until I know I will keep them. There have been times when I purchased a set I thought I'd love then ended up trading it off. So I wait a while to integrate my new sets. I generally also keep more outdoor/masculine sets together, flower sets all in the same drawers. Christmas/winter in another drawer. It makes it easier to pull what I need. I even put all my small background stamps like Itty bitty bg, beyond the basics, etc and any other stamp that works as a bg together in one large su case and several cases in one drawer. It works for me, but may not for another. If I'm worried about forgetting what set it belongs to I'll write in pencil on the end of the wood block the set name, year and the number of stamps in the set in (). You have to figure out what works best for you. Maybe just do a couple of sets first, then if you need to undo them you can.

I store all my stamps(not just sentiments) in trays. Here is a picture stamp storage by wendykins at Splitcoaststampers of the trays that i use. It works for me and i can see all that i have without looking in my index binder. I know it doesn't work for everyone, but especially when people are over at my camps and such, they can choose their own sentiment without going through all the boxes.
I keep all my SU sets in the original packages. My other sentiments and sayings from various companies are in plastic drawers, grouped together by type (birthday, wedding, anniversary, sympathy, etc).

I don't have a ton of sentiments. I feel too limited with them in that how many times can I use the same bday greeting to the same friends and family, so for me I am a creature of habit and keep them all in original packaging. This being said, I don't mix and match my clothes either. If I buy it together it generally stays together.
