I'm trying to get back into scrapbooking, but I don't know what to do with my 12 X 12 paper, where it's easy to see what I have. Right I have one vertical paper holder (which I really don't like) that holds most of my pattern paper, and the rest of it's just shoved somewhere. I really wanted one of those cropper hopper file drawers, but apparently they discontinued them . How do you store you 12 X 12 papers? How do you know what you have? There have been many times I've realized I have the perfect paper for a certain project...problem is I usually find the paper after I already made it .
I am in the same mind set as you. I hate storing them vertical. I can never find what I want and I find I always struggle to get them out or put somethng back in. I too would love to have a cropper hopper file and I also really like the wire racks that are slanted that you see in the stores however you need a lot of room for that system. My stamp room is quite small. There's got to be a better way. Of course I have quite a bit of DSP as well. Any suggestions will be most appreciated.
i have a small craft area., i bought at target 12x12 containers cases. its works good for me, I dont have a lot of paper and I know more or less what I have. Im trying not to buy anymore until I finish that one ;)
I just got into scrapbooking too., and my system so far works for me ;)
I'm sad to hear that you don't like the vertical storage. I have thousands of sheets organized in a way that works for me in a bunch of vertical storage things. Horizontal systems take up too much room and you can't just thumb through the papers to find one easily. Take a look through some of the craft room photos on this site and maybe you can find some new systems that others have found that work for them.

I used Office Depot fold-together file boxes for the longest time. Unfortunately, I could never fit the lids on them so they always looked a mess. Now that I've downsized about 75% of my papers, I have them in those vertical holders. I don't really like them either, but they seem to work fine. I separate them by collection or brand into the big ziploc bags first. When I want to find something, I just grab the bag that I want from there.
I'm going to keep watching here to see if there are any other better ideas Good luck!
I just bought 3 of the Store in Style file cubes at Michaels on clearance for $12.50 each. Now I just have to order the 12x12 hanging folders.
I'm hoping that I really like this system for my 12x12 patterned paper. I have my 12x12 cardstock in Cropper Hopper vertical holders and really like it. But for some reason, that doesnt' seem to work very well for my patterned papers.
I have the vertical Cropper Hopper files. I am a CTMH Consultant so each set of DP that I purchase is stored in the 2 gallon zip lock bags. I write on the bag the DP inside. For CS, I do the same thing...I write which set is in the bag and also the colors contained in it. I make sure that the writing is at the top of the bag so that all I have to do is flip through the filed bags. It works great for me.
I have one of the horizontal wire rack systems. I used to store vertical until I came across the horizontal system at a yard sale for 5 bucks. I love it. I have papers of the same color family on a shelf making it fairly easy to see what I have and if I need to look a little further all I have to do is pull the stack out. I really like it
Thanks everyone. I guess I'm just lazy. I like the look of the vertical paper holders, but I just hate having to pull all of the paper out and look through every sheet to find what I need. I don't really have the room for one of those racks that store it horizontally.

Right now I am storing my 12x12 paper in a Paper Taker Bag. For now it works for me.
I will be updating my Stamp room this summer and will look for another way to store my 12x12 Paper.
I use a combination of the cropper hopper & Stampin' Up plastic vertical holders with dividers. One for textured cardstock, one for solids and a couple for designer paper which is divided by catagory: Romantic/wedding, nature, baroque, striped, etc. I tape a piece of paper on the binding, then list specific catagories so I can grab the right holder and go!
