It seems to be the season to organize...and I've decided I need to organize all the bits and pieces that inspire me, whether it be sketches, templates, little projects, or a colour combo I've seen somewhere. I'd like to put this all in a notebook or binder of some kind, but would love to see any examples already out there...please share!

I am getting ready to alter a lunch tin with some dividers. I thought that might be a more decorative option to the binder. I will try to post it when I finish.
Jaron shared his inspiration book at regionals a while back. He uses those composition books. Pastes inspiration pictures in, plays with circles of colors for color combos, etc. When it gets full, he starts another one.
Just looked up my notes. Here are his 5 sections for his Creative Journal:
Color
Layout
Artwork
Titles and Phrases
Texture and Textiles
He said not to spend a lot of time on it. Put things in there when they inspire you. Use them when you feel like it. Don't aim for perfection in a Creative Journal!!!
I use a three-ring binder 'cause it's easy to remove stuff when it no longer inspires, I can rearrange stuff when I get the urge, and whole pages cut from magazines fit just fine. Works for me, isn't perfect, very flexible. Oh, and I decorated the cover. Here's the pic in my gallery of it:
I just have a composition book that I altered. I used the round tab punch to make sections. I put color combos, sketches, newspaper clippings, etc in it. I pretty much carry it with me everywhere!!
I haven't altered it yet, but my file card box is the place. I have dividers for layout ideas, color combos that I like, quotes, textures and a list of ideas to try. I've begun sticking swatches of napkins or fabrics in too.
Just today on my blog I commented that I need to begin taking a small camera with me to capture the inspiration I find in fashion, fabrics, etc. Now I just need time to utilize more of these ideas :-) but it's always great to have a file of ideas for a starting point.
Thanks for the good ideas...I just find I see so many things that inspire me and think that I'll remember them later which I don't, or course...I like the idea of something that is easily accessible for this reason. I also like the "no pressure" recommendation that fionna51 referred to.
