How do you do it? With your favorites, I mean.

We are coming up on the end of the year and soon we will be posting the "Favorites of the Year" threads here in this forum. I know that the CAS favorites will be posted on Jan 1 so you all can share every single outstanding favorite for 2012.

So, that requires a bit of management of one's favorites folder. How do you do it?

Here's what I do.
...First thing is to view every card submitted. I then fave a bunch every day.
...Each week those faves are posted in the weekly favorites thread.
...Here's my secret to managing my favorites folder. Each month I go through the previous month's favorites and save the ones I still want to folders on my computer (and I delete from my faves folder here). Those folders on my computer are for YOUR work. I have a bunch of designers I seem to save a lot of, and all it takes is me saving 3 of your creations to have your own folder on my computer. That way if I case, I know whose work I am casing. I refuse to respond to how many folders that amounts to. I plead the fifth.
...So, by this time of year I have only 200-300 creations in my favorites folder. Today I'm going thru those and trimming that down to the few that I will post on Tuesday when I start the CAS Favorites of the year thread.
...Then all those are deleted here, and I start fresh on Jan 1!

ah I did wonder about that... how people pick... do you pick one favorite per month to post? and post just 12 projects from last year?

Stacy, some people have done it that way in the past. However, we don't put a limit on how many links people can recognize in the year-end Favorites thread.

Diane, I knew this was coming, so I've been keeping track of which ones I wanted to include. Still, it's so difficult to trim down the list to a manageable number. The ability to organize Favorites is one of the most requested forum improvements. It will be wonderful when that feature is finally available, since we could then keep best-of-the-year folders for our picks.

Just an FYI... The regular Favorites Best of 2012 thread will be posted tonight at about 8:00 Eastern time. We'll be doing ours instead of the normal Favorites thread this week, since last year it was too many notifications to have both the weekly thread and the year-end thread during the same week.

Diane - what a great system! I have to say that I've had ZERO time to peruse galleries to comment on or favorite anything, or participate in challenges or upload to my gallery or blog for most of the year, so my goal for 2013 is to set aside a block of time every day for at least a bit of creating and/or commenting. My current favorites folder is ridiculously overflowing, and I can't even remember now why I added a lot of them! Maybe I should just start fresh...

Anyway - thanks for a great idea! I'll have to content myself with viewing everyone else's favorites this year...
