Default Ho Hum....

So my package came today from Joann. I ordered several Coluzzle templates and the Swivel Knife (none other than JulieHRR herself introduced me to this simple but fabulous cutting system at our recent shoebox swap), but I forgot to order the cutting mat that goes along with it!! So, I go back online and order it. Wow, it costs a whole $1.49. I cannot spend that little and pay so much for shipping! So, I bought some more templates and embossing folders for my CB. Sheesh.... What's a girl to do!!??

oh yeah, so my point is... Julie said that the cutting mat is necessary, but is there anything else that can be used? (at least until my cutting mat comes)

No, there really isnt. You need the cutting mat that goes along with it, otherwise it just doesnt work properly. Dont ya just hate when that happens!

Ok what is this wonderful cutting system? I am still in search of something without spending a fortune with CM.

It's nothing fancy really, they are templates and a very sharp swivel knife. I really liked it when I used it! I got the knife and templates on the Joann website. Very inexpensive too!

Oh, crikey. Yeah, the foam comes only in the starter kits (which, typically contain the knife, and a basic shape template, and the foam).

You CAN buy the foam separately at any Michael's store--altho I've never had to replace mine, I bought one of the mondo big foam mats for some of my larger templates.

I *heart* my Coluzzle . . .

Ok, gotcha... cause I remember you saying it came with a mat, but mine didn't. That explains it, thanks!!

Yes, starter kit in SU! catalog contains foam, circle and oval templates, + swivel knife. SU! no longer carries the "companion" circle and oval templates, which give a 1/8" mat for the standard ones that came in the starter kit. The companion mats are readily available at joann.com or Michael's, and creativexpress.com , and probably many other places that carry the Coluzzle line by Provo Craft.

It's an excellent shape cutting system for anything up to card stock weight, and has a *wide* range of template shapes--I just keep collecting more and more of 'em.

Okay- just wanted to make sure it wasn't something new I missed...I have the starter and the companion(luckily before it retired) and *hope* SU doesn't discontinue the starter kit
