Default Help - New to Scrapbooking

I made an 8x8 page at Archivers last month and we attached a bottle cap. Do they make 8x8 pages that don't have plastic sleeves, it doesn't seem to me like something with a thick embellishment like this would fit into a plastic sleeve. I'm curious what type of albums are used with these types of embellishments. Thanks

I have a friend who does really intricate things on her pages. When she has big 3-d images she just puts the page protector on and cuts around the 3-d image with an exacto knife.

I don't know a lot about them, but I know the hinge strap albums (creative memories and others) do not have plastic protectors. You can add them if you like, but they are not attached, they slide over the page horizontally.

I use post bound albums and my page protectors seems to have enough room to fit some bulky items. You can't do any lift the flap or other interactive pages with them though. I've thought of cutting out a spot in the protector for one of these types of things, but have never actually done it.

I usually just put mine in the SU pages. I don't think you should have much trouble with bottle caps. They don't stick out that much.

I use bottle caps and all kinds of 3-D embellishments...I use regular plastic page protectors and have never had any problem.

Here's what I do:
I try and be sure not to put a really, really bulky item across from a picture (place my journaling block or something like that over there!).
I also store my scrapbook standing up. That way, I do not allow any unnecessary pressure on either the page with the embellishment, the page across from the embellishment, or the pages behind or in front of it.

Also, I add mini-books and flaps, etc. to my scrapbook pages...I just cut around the area with an exacto knife and that allows easy access to flip through these additions...I usually leave a flap covering them - I don't cut them out entirely!!!

Anyway, I hope that answers your questions. Good luck! Have fun scrapping!

I really recommend using page protectors (you'll be fine with bottle caps...) Otherwise, as people flip through your pages the edges will get dirty. And the embellishments & photos can get ruined (as people pick and prod them...or they rub on the backs of other items.)

The Page protectors usually leave plenty of room for lumpy bumpy embellishments. So, you should be fine.

Best wishes!
