Found this set (new!) at a thrift store for $2.40. I have two questions.
1. Can anyone ID it?
2. I'm not sure what two of the pieces are, the long half rectangle and the open square.
The long piece could be for making the flat open type of railcars and the box for freight on those cars? Otherwise I have no idea. Never seen this set before.
Rene, what is the year that appears on the stamp labels? I have all the Stampin' Up annual catalogs going back to 1997 and I'll be happy to see if I can find it for you.
I have the Choo Choo stamp set and your set is definitely not that one.
Edited to add: I just realized SU created two train stamp sets both named Choo Choo and I have the second version. I agree with Nancy Jo on the purpose of the long rectangle and the open square stamps. You could stamp a letter inside each of the square boxes to spell out a child's name or some other message.

In the stamping up gallery Choo Choo DD first posting is 2004 and retired in 2004. Then there is a another set listed as Choo Choo in 2009 Occasions Mini. Appears SU has had 2 sets with the Choo Choo name.

It is dated 2003, so my guess is that it's Choo Choo DD. It is unfortunate that there aren't any samples showing an example of the square boxes.
It would be called Definitely Decorative Choo Choo. Definitely Decorative stamps were meant for home decor such as stamping a decorative border in a child's room, although you can, of course, use them for whatever you like.
