I am making a baby book as a gift for my SIL. The plan is to have the pages done for her and all she needs to do is insert photos and add the information. I need some ideas of what kind of pages to do. I would like to cover the first year of the baby. For example I would like to include a spot for her to write baby's first words, first step, etc. I am just stuck on how I should set this up and what else I should include. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
One of the formula companies is sending out a calendar for the first year - you could do something similar. I saved it just as an idea for me (Three weeks and counting until I'm done cooking this peanut ;) ) Have the first year in calendar form for her to jot down odds and ends and then give her things like "first smiles, food, ponytail (girl), haircut, food, holidays, sitting up, rolling over, crawling, standing, etc" She would probably have to reorder them as time goes on (if she wanted to have the firsts right after the calendar page) but either way, she will love it!!!
I have been making books for people as gifts for baby, wedding/honeymoon. I put some pages in for bath time, mommy & me, daddy & me, sleeping, etc. Then I do pages for each month, ex. 1 month, 2 months, up to one year. That way I don't have to think of too many things and they have a place to put a picture each month. I am just finishing one for my new great-nephew!! (born on Elvis's birthday!) Hope this may help. I agree with the calendar pages. You could make a 2 page spread of 1 month old on one page and the corresponding calendar page on the other. That would give you 24 very simple to do pages. Then do pages for firsts:
Introducing baby
Mom and baby at the hospital
Bringing baby home
First bath
First solid food
First Crawl
First Tooth
First Sit-Up
First Steps
First Word
Sleeping Baby
First Halloween
First Christmas
First Birthday
mommy and baby
daddy and baby
grandparents
And a few misc pages
I love doing baby albums and I'm doing one just like this for my sister.
Wow!!! You got some good advice here already... I might as well keep those ideas in mind for my baby's first album...
29 weeks and counting before my son comes to this world...

I have done a baby album for a girlfriend last year and I'm going to be doing another this year in a few months.
I had 20 pages done so all she had to do was put on the pics. Then I gave her a folder with left over stickers and patterened paper so she could continue working on it.
For Baby's firsts I did a page that had fiber strung 3 times across the 12X12 page, then I got those cute little clothespins from Jolee's and clipped them onto the fiber. This way she can add little pics and info about baby's first everything. It looked SO cute!!
I've given out a bunch of baby books at baby showers. I use SU's 6x6 albums. I stamp background paper, put a spot for a title, sometimes use embellishments, and all the parents have to do is put in the photo & write a title. People LOVE this! I have 20 or so pages in it and it only takes me 1-2 hours.
I am working on my third baby gift album. The first was a book of baby's first including a calender of the months so she write doctor's appts and misc stuff in it. The second was a big brother album for my cousins little boy so he can put pictures of himself with his new brother in it. The one I am finishing now is an ABC book for baby. I took the alphabet and tried to find titles to match the important stuff and did it that way. For example
A- All American Boy
B-Boy Meets World
C-Clean As A Whistle
D-Days of our Lives
etc.

I just finished a book as well and I did a couple of different pages as well as the usual milestones. One page I did was "Waiting for me to arrive". I printed a small calendar on cardstock of the expected month, highlighted the due date with a clear tile. Then a place for the baby's ultra sound pic. Another page I did was "Don't cry little one" This one came from a very creative person on this site. I get so many comments on this page. Lets face it, babies do cry.
