I tried, Debs. It no worky. :p I have been able to punch out thin fabric that's been fused to paper for stability, but, I think even if I did that with the felt, it's just too "fiber-ous" a material (is that even a word??? *snarf!* ) to get a "clean" and complete punch . . .
I do use my dies when it comes to felt; works fabulously.

How about your cropa dile thingy? My MIL punches through flannel blankets to crochet around them with the punch thing you use to put snaps in and that is similar isn't it?

I think they're talking about actually making flowers with felt...I haven't tried punching through with the cropadile but I love using my sizzix, cb, and quickutz dies to cut felt (I still like to take a sec to back it in paper for stability!

I have used the cuttlebug and the flower dies to cut the heavier felt. I found sheets of the heavy felt at Michael's and AC Moore but there aren't too many good colors.

ITA; I've been trying to find a nice olive felt; every green I find is some hideously neon version of green . . . :( You'd think the felt companies would catch a clue . . .

Felted wool comes in a gazillion colors, and the hand-dyed ones are spectacular--try that instead of the precut felt pieces. Look for it in a good quilt shop, or find it online (ebay too).

I recently tried to cut some felt I got from M's with my coluzzle........hahahahahah! That little wimpy blade didn't stand a chance with that felt!
I have a question about the CB and felt, can I use my nestabilities with it or just the CB dies? Because now I'm curious......but I don't want to ruin my nesties!

I haven't tried this specifically, but, since my Nesties cut through lightweight coaster board, and I've heard they will cut through fun foam, I'm begging that you would have no problems using them on felt??? At the least, no harm to the dies; it's a matter of whether or not the blades on the Nesties are deep enough that you'll get a clean cut on the felt, cuz it's so fibrous . . . UKWIM?

Two things:
I design for www.CreativeCutsandMore.com , and they cut many of their dies into felt. You just have to see if it's on their site or ask-they are very accomodating!
Also, you can use your Glimmer Mist to tweek all manner of things that don't match-ribbon, cs, or other embellies, felt, too, I imagine! I learned this at The Embellishment Studio.

I've been told that you can use your nesties with the CB Ellen Hutson has a listing on her Web-site that tells you how to sandwich your nesties with the plates! I haven't tried it personnally since I don't own any nesties ..I know sham on me but I'm going to try it with my friends nesties next month!!

Sort of off the subject, but do you know if felt is acid free? I've been looking at using it in my scrapbooks but I want all my albums to be of archival quality. I just found out on Friday about the new felt flowers in the SU catty and would love to use them in my albums. Any info on the acidity would be welcome. Thanks!

You can use Nestabilities on felt, I just usually make a couple of passes to make sure it goes through. I haven't found a way to emboss with it, though. :( Still working on that...

Crikey. Do I have time for that? Or for custom dying my felt colors???

I've managed to punch felt with some of my punches but not all of them.
And to be honest I've never tried punching plain felt - just the left-overs after an alcohol ink session!! Gives great toning accessories
I was trying to post a link to my picturetrail album, but I can't post a URL.
So I've put it in my member album on here, hope that's OK.
But I don't know how to link to that either:confused:
edited to add - not that I don't know how to post a URL, it's just that even though I have 13 posts, I get a message saying I may not post URLs till I have made at least 3 posts.
And I see it's easy to get to member galleries just by clicking on user names - didn't know that before!

I was cutting flowers out with my CB using the stiffer felt & also self adhesive felt. It worked well for the first 4 or 5 passes, but after that the images weren't cutting all the way through the felt. I'm worried that I dulled my dies.
Just thought I'd put the warning out there. Maybe it was the self-adhesive felt.

Thank you! I will go look!
I think the URL posting thingy has to do with forum posts, due to forum SPAM we've had issues with. If the majority of your posts have actually been in the gallery (commenting), as opposed to forums, those are added to your post counts you see listed. But, the system itself may not recognize gallery posts/comments; it may only recognize how many forum posts you have before it will permit you to post a URL?
I don't know that for sure, but I'm guessing. . .
HTH, and thank you again! I'll go peek at your gallery!

I wondered about self-adhesive felt . . . I've been tempted, but, I have worried that it will "gum up" the die blades and then I'll have to figure out how to get 'em clean again, UKWIM? No easy task on CB dies, due to the ejection foam . . .

I use my Cuttlebug to cut felt all the time with the Nestabilities and it comes out fine. If I want it to emboss, I slide in a piece of felt folded in half somewhere in the sandwich. It cuts and embosses at the same time - every time!

Hey gals, I've seen the "nicer" felt at Joann's. Mom has picked some up there for her doll clothes making projects. They had some nice earthy tones that we saw...quite a bit of color choice if I remember right. They are on the bolt...I think near the designer fabrics & home decor prints.

Oooh! I *never* think to check the BOLTS! I'm always scoping out the little sheets! Good grief!
Thanks, Alana!

My attempt..
Okay so I played around with the felt the other day and I'm reporting back..
I have to say I was very disappointed in the dying of the felt with the re-inkers The Normal felt didn't dye well. The felt board didn't dye well and the felt with the glue backing didn't dye well. So 3 thumbs down on dying:
I used my CB and my DD CBK on the normal felt: CB worked fine and the CBK worked okay to my surprise I think if I did two pass throughs it would of been great.
I only used my CB on the harder felt and it worked fine
And I used my CB on the felt with the adhesive backing and it worked fine.
So it works it's just the dying part doesn't maybe less water and more color?? I woudl still hvae to play with it.
One other thing to add the thicker felts get a cleaner cut then the flimsy felt it come out kinda shreddy if that makes since...
I bought my "NORMAL" felt one from Michaels and one sheet from Wally's
the harder felt from Wally's and the adhesive back felt from Wally's also HTH..
In the end I'd have to say I hope SU somes out with more colors!! LOL
