Default Has anyone else had this problem?

I have decided to switch from wood blocks to acryllic. My problem is cleaning the stamp. When I use the cleaning pad, the stamp comes off the acryllic. I end up having to clean just the stamp, without trying to put it back on the acryllic. Is there a trick to cleaning that I just don't know about? How do the rest of you clean your stamps?

Sometimes this happens and sometimes not. When it does I just clean both sides of the stamp so it sticks better the next time I use it.

Sometimes I use a scrub pad and sometimes I just use spray cleaner and run under water. Just depends on my stamping situation. Never really thought about this being a problem. I just know it is easier to clean acrylic mount stamps than wood stamps.

I go with the baby wipes too- I think some of the stamps just don't 'cling' strongly enough to be able to 'scrub' them on a pad. It does help to keep the backs clean as they seem to pick up dust, glitter, etc, but some are just not very tacky.

I've had the same problem with my clear stamps. Few cling strongly enough to be able to just scrub away on them on my scrubber pad.

This is one of the reasons I have not gone unmounted yet with all my rubber stamps. I really like being able to use the Stamp and Scrub! It's how I started with stamping and it's so fast and easy.

But, for the clear stamps that can't stand up to it I do use Baby Wipes too. Just make sure they are alcohol and lanolin free. The alcohol would be drying and I forget what the lanolin does but I read it out here on another thread somewhere as a "no-no".

This small problem does slow down my spending on clear stamps anyway so I guess that's a good thing!

I've used baby wipes to clean stamps. I usually then was the stamp with soap and water. Is that necessary or is the stamp fine without washing it afterwards?

Just don't rub it. Mush them up and down a few times to clean and a few times to dry. If you need to, lightly twist your wrist. That's what works for me anyway.

As long as your baby wipes are alcohol free, and to be honest I think most are, then theres no need to wash them after. Mind you, I don't find that I need to scrub clear stamps very often- they're usually not detailed enough to hold ink in the design. A quick wipe is usually more than sufficient.

yep, depends on the clear stamps. A clean photopolymer stamp will stick like crazy to an acrylic block, you can scrub away all you like, if the back of the photopolymer stamp is grubby a quick wash with water and mild detergent will restore the stickiness.

Other types of clear stamp such as cheaper acrylic stamps may not stick so well and might slide off, baby wipes are fab for these! HTH.
