The holidays are around the corner, what are your favorite types of gifts to stamp and give? For example to Teachers, Bus Drivers, Sister/in laws, Friends, co-workers. Just curious to see what the most popular type of stamped gift everyone gives.
I make all my friends, neighbors, teachers, etc. a pack of 6 different cards and envelops. This year I am making around 50 sets and I am almost done!! I put them in a large flat cello bag with a matching topper. I have done this for the past 3 years and it has been a huge hit!
I make a ton of different sets. Every night for the past month I have made a set of 12 cards that are the same. Then the next night I do a different card, etc. I mostly do Happy Birthday, Thinking of You, Baby, All Occasion. I try to think of a nice variety when I put them together. If you think about it, they are getting a really good little treat. Each bag is valued at around $10-15 dollars. I don't skimp on the embellishments either. I usually have eyelets, ribbon, or brads and they all are layered. If you check out my gallery and example would be my monkey card, elephant card, or chicken card. I even made some of the cute butterfly cards that are on there. Yes, they took me some time but I sit in my stamp room every night for an hour while my children are reading & falling asleep. It gives me something to do.
Here are a few that are in my sets. I will post the final project when I get them in the cello bags with toppers. That will probably be in a week or two.

I want to give those little nugget boxes as teacher/bus driver gifts for Christmas. I am planning to put together two sets of assorted cards with a nice pen and a sheet of stamps all bundled into an altered lunch box. Those will be for my husband's cousins, who are also my friends and members of my book club. I just have to get moving on this...

You might want to check out Virtual Stamp Night ( see my siggy line ) there may be some challenges with cute ideas. That's all I can reveal for now......
I just finished all my sets of cards today. I ended up making 59 sets of 6 cards each. I started the toppers and I will finish by tomorrow. I'll upload a pic when I am done. It's funny because I don't have 59 friends to give them to but it will be nice to have extra on hand for birthdays and such!
Wow! That is awesome. I cannot wait to see your photos. Thanks again for sharing your ideas. I went to a calendar party for Stampinup. We created calendars with stampps, photo's, kinda a scrap book calendar. I'm making one for my mom in law, one for my mom and one for hubby. They turned out so neat. So, there is a gift giving idea. :-)

I'm amazed at your energy, talent and productivity. I guess I just waste too much time. I give gift certificates!

Good morning, Joan!! Gift certificates are a great thing to give, too. I only make card sets for teachers, neighbors, and friends from church. My family and close friends get other things. Sometimes it is also gift certificates!!
I am hopefully going to make the coasters for gifts this year. I haven't made any before but with all the different ideas in the gallery it shouldn't be too hard.
I usually give my neices/nephews $ or gift cards but I make them $ holders.
I gave my mom and DH's mom a set of monogramed cards last year.

Robyn, you're an inspiration! I agree - cards are always a big hit. This year I'll be doing some paper-wrapped candles and comp books too. In the past I've given coasters as well. I'll be following this thread to see what other folks are doing. Thanks for starting it, Lynn!

I haven't put much thought into it yet but time is ticking.... isn't it!!! The kids thought of making a stamped base for post it notes. They made them at a kids SU party last spring.
Robyn... WOW! That idea is WONDERFUL!!! I cannot wait to see the cards you made.
I may do a bit of both ideas!

This year I picked up some planners at the dollar store. They're the type with a plastic cover. I'm going to make those, a beaded pen and a set of 4 notecards.
I've been doing stamped gifts for years!!!! It's pretty much what sold me on stamping because a card is ok, but a gift is a real money saver! It's also how I got into SCS since I found it by looking for Xmas gift ideas! I found out about the Dirty Dozen gallery that featured gift ideas and I was totally hooked!!!!
So now it's time for the big decision again this year. I still am not sure what I'm gonna do. Anyway, here is what I have done for several years past, I also do gifts for secretaries' day in the spring so these may be out of order but you'll get the idea:
last year: altered clipboards, I did 14 so it was a big job, they went over well though: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
at some point I did hand stamped mugs similar to this one (from Starbucks): Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
One year I did a ton of these etched glass candle votive/vases using Coleen Kidder's directions (the vases are at Michaels): Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I also did these cool ice covered votives the year before that: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

I made everyone notebooks with pens to match with a bamboo charm similar to this: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
One of my all time favorites was the pop-top can with a jewelry surprise inside:
Here's a can: Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
This year I may go for stamped candles and lunch tin card organizers... if I find a cheaper source for the tins!
Or I may make more of these (kinda time consuming though); Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

Remember to go to "anything but a card" gallery for even more ideas.
Wow... Can you tell I love making gifts???
Sure hope that helps.
Awww....shucks. I'm just always looking for ways to save money (which, of course, is a joke to my DH who sees my stamp supplies that "save us money" ROFL!)
I am doing a covered band aid tin for my DD's nurse at school!!! Cute, eh?
Her main teacher and aid are getting little paint tins (actually these clear sided ones I found at the LSS) filled with I don't know what yet, but I also got this adorable round stamp that the design fits perfectly on top of it so I had to get that -- also will fit on top of some CD tins which I am making as well as some little round tins I am making into ornaments (cased from the Trim the Tree gallery, the shaker ornaments out of mini tins, SOO cute!).
