I have one (1) card in my gallery. Yep, only 1. That is because even though I have made hundreds and have photographed them, I have CASEd most of them to at least some degree. However, when I first joined here, I didn't realize the importance of remembering where I saw the original card and never made a note. Once I knew I should, I just didn't take the time. I am always in such a hurry (like most everybody else I guess).
My question is, should I post my cards to the gallery or not? If so, how do I go about giving credit to the original person when I don't know? I don't want to offend anybody, but I do want to get my cards out there too.
Thanks for your time!

Post away, girlie! We would love to see your creations, and I am very sure that many, if any of your creations are 100% cased. I you are like me, you may use a layout or a color combo from a card, but you make it your own. Artists get inspiration from everywhere! You get your inspiration here. Using that inspiration is, I believe the greatest compliment! If you can give some info about the original idea, do so. And if you are casing something that seems to be "New" in the stamping word, I would be more careful to try to give credit, but overall, I think we all know when we post our creations here, others are going to use them.
I would say post CASE'd cards and say if you can't remember where you got the idea from. If you do know, you should for sure put the name. I only CASE cards because I am not that creative and usually can't remember where I got the idea from, which is why I do not have a gallery. I love to make cards, just don't want to bother with taking pictures of them and writing a description. If I was a true artist like many here and came up with my own originals, I would definately put them here.
If you are proud of your work and want to show it, we'd love to see it.

PLEASE post them!!! That's where most of us get our inspiration. I post them; and if I can't remember who originally posted them, I say so. AND also ask that if anyone recognizes the original, let me know then I can edit my post and add the information.
Don't know, just say so; we all have copied something at one time or another and couldn't remember where the idea came from.
And, if you do know, it is so lovely when you include a nod to the artist that inspired you--it's like a warm fuzzy hug when I read that someone was inspired enough by one of my designs to want to re-create it, or a variation thereof!

When something is an exact case I sometimes wonder why people post them especially when the original card is quite recent but when a card you make is more "inspired from" another then post post and post some more!
At the moment, I'm in with the majority on option 2.
But honestly, if it's just a case of being generally influenced by something you've seen somewhere some time, why worry about it. Not a lot is entirely 100% original. It happens in music too - with only 12 notes in an octave, you can't avoid similarities between some tunes .
But if your card is pretty much inspired by something, mention it by all means, whether or not you can credit by name. Like Julie said - it gives warm fuzzies .
I had posted a set of cards that were definitely "inspired" by another stamper, but couldn't remember who, which I confessed to in the description. Later, I discovered the card that had inspired me, so editted my post to give credit where credit was due. Want to hear the funny thing? The person I had CASE'd had favorited and left a sweet comment on my cards!!
Thing is, there isn't a whole lot new. I have no idea how many cards are posted here, but honestly, no matter what paper you use, where you place a brad, how you do your layout of how you use your ribbon, someone, somewhere has probably done it before you. Please share so we can CASE you!
Thanks so much for all this good feedback. I was thinking along the same lines as what most of you have said, so that is probably the way I will proceed. Unfortunately, my photos are not as professional as most I see here. I will have to learn how to set up a light tent or something to get better, more consistent photos. If anybody has any advice that way, feel free to PM me. I'd love to hear some cheap/free solutions. I know that's a whole other topic!

Because some of us have a few stampers that aren't really computer savvy but want to see what I make, so just have a link to my gallery.
I post CASEd and inspired-by cards all the time. Most of the time I can provide a link to the card, but not always - and I just say I don't know. Heck sometimes it's a card on SU's Stamper's Showcase which I can't reference here.

I know what you mean about the photos...when I first started taking pix of my cards, I was as green at it as I was at making cards...and it shows! =) But necessity is the mother of invention and I discovered that two huge white sheets of heavy cardstock (I have a ream of 18 x 12), plus two lamps strategically placed and I'm good to go. One white sheet on the bottom, one white sheet behind it with my OTT lamp over. Seems to work pretty good, only takes 2 seconds to set up on my table (the large sheets also hide my messy work space!), and is handy so I don't wimp out. My photos AND my cards will never be as good as many on here, but they're good enough to keep me from being embarrassed!
HTH,
Kathy
