Fifth Avenue Floral Watercolour

I just embossed 50 flowers onto SU white cardstock only to discover the watercolour technique won't work. SU doesn't sell shimmery white cardstock. Any ideas as to what paper will work with the watercolour technique?

Any idea as to what I can do with 50 heat embossed roses?

SU! does sell a shimmery white - in the current Canadian catty, it is on pg. 160.
For watercolour work though, actual watercolour paper works best. I just buy mine at Micheal's when the artists pads are on sale or when I have a coupon.

As for the heat embossed roses, if you are going for a watercolour look, try the pencils & gamsol technique.
You could also try chalks for a very soft look.
Or try colouring them with markers & then layering some vellum on top to soften the look.

You can still use the roses you embossed. It works because I have done it. Truthfully there is not much difference using the regular paper. If you want that shine make some glimmer mist. I have no exact measurements but I do it all the time. Take a mini mister and fill it about 2/3 full of plain old rubbing alcohol. A few drops of re-inker and some of the Shimmer Paint available from SU on pg 158 of the catty. If you don't want any color just mix the paint and the alcohol. Just make sure its blended completely. I like the Frost White best myself. This makes the prettiest shimmer. Better imo than any I have bought. Have fun and no need to worry, you're roses are going to be great!

I believe what the OP is talking about is the reinker float technique. That technique does require the shimmery white paper.

Now, as for your embossed flowers on whisper white, I would try regular watercolor techniques, pastels, colored pencils like prismas, or you could try a white rose on a colored card base.

If you choose to do something with water...watercolor pencils or crayon or even reinkers with a waterbrush for example...you have to do your brushstrokes with only one or two swipes. The whisper white doesn't like overworking with water.
