Default Experience with The Paper Deal?

Has anyone ordered from The Paper Deal (thepaperdeal.com)? They offer a discounted item per day and the shipping is quite reasonable (at least to Canada). Thanks for any comments you may have.

I am not familiar with The Paper Deal, but I am a big scrapbookpal.com fan and they have the peacock feathers dies for $12.99 US. I don't know their shipping rates for Canada, but you could put one in your cart and check the shipping rates to see if they are reasonable. I order all my adhesives from them because they have the best everyday prices I have found with free shipping at $25 US. I have always had excellent and quick service - she usually mails the same day as my order is placed.

I placed an order with this company on Feb 5 and have not heard anything from them since. I sent an email twice asking for reassurance that my order was received and will be sent. I am concerned. I may have gotten taken..I too would appreciate any feedback on this company.

I haven't heard of them. When I looked at their website, I noticed that their Social Media plug-ins, ie: Facebook and Twitter etc. do not work when you click on them which worries me. I did a search on Facebook and couldn't find them on there. Hopefully, someone else here on SCS has ordered from the company and can share their experiences.

Thanks for the reply...yep, I'm concerned...they "sell" Tim Holtz products among others, perhaps I should try and give them a heads up?

According to their whois info, the domain name "thepaperdeal.com" was just registered on January 13, 2015. That doesn't necessarily mean they're not legit, but it could be a warning flag. I did a basic google search for customer reviews, and I found absolutely nothing. Which is no big surprise, since they're so new they haven't had time to build a reputation yet, whether good or bad.

Please keep us posted, and good luck!!

Under "About", it lists Loren Rivosecchi as the owner. But when you google him, you get nothing. (It comes back with other Rivosecchi's, just no Loren). Frankly I would be nervous to buy online.

D0npen, it has been 9 days since you ordered. You should at least have gotten an acknowledgement. If it was me I would stop payment on the credit card.

Thanks Marge.. I've just sent email #3 through the contact section, telling her/him that if I have not heard back by Tuesday that I will be contacting my credit card and have them under dispute.. sigh..
I appreciate all the feedback ladies.. Many thanks, Penny

No "Loren" But I found a "Lauren Rivosecchi" in Oak Brook, IL. This person is 32, married two years ago to Brian Svenson, worked at Ace Hardware and is registered in LinkedIn. The name is so close, I wondered if "Loren" is a typo.

Thanks for letting me know what happened with The PaperDeal. I had started receiving daily emails about the 19th of January but I couldn't remember ever signing up for email notification. Then today I received two emails from "thepaperdeal" for the same item but the emails were in two different formats. When I clicked on unsubscribe on each of them, I was redirected to two different sites. Now I am wondering if someone out there is grabbing our emails from somewhere.

Sheryl, I have no idea how I received the first email, but suddenly I get one a day. If it was legit, I know everyone would be ordering from them as the price certainly cannot be beat. Many Tim Holtz and Spellbinders products on offer, lower than anyone else...sigh, buyer beware, and I was not...so just a heads up!

This is sounding more and more like lack of business savvy and technical skill and less and less like a scam. I know crafty people who want to start small businesses, and successful business owners constantly warn them not to start without planning three to five years out with financing to keep afloat for that length of time. This looks like someone's trying to do it on the cheap, with some uncle's cousin's nephew who wants to break into IT.

Louisa May, I honestly tried to give this person the opportunity to make this right.. my three emails were nicely worded and exhibited an interest in further purchases, however I was hesitant to do so as I was concerned about the lack of contact. Now how could any honest vendor not reply to that?
Sigh...

I sent them an email Saturday just to ask for a clarification regarding their shipping rates, but no reply. Not even an auto-responder. I thought the prospect of more business might get them to answer, but not even so much as a peep.

Well, in a word: stupidity. Never underestimate the ability to be just plain dumb (and fearful of not being able to deal with the problem). But I'm not trying to excuse the behavior. The result is the same: no business and bad reputation. It just seemed to me that a scammer does not continue automated email contact with dissatisfied customers.

Default The Paper Dea.

I also placed a order with them on Jan 28th and I have not received anything yet in the mail. I have also emailed them over and over again with no reply. I paid with paypal so I have put in a dispute with them. Should I call my credit card company? I am so upset, I feel like a real fool.

I know some people do not like Paypal, or using credit cards, but this thread really highlights the best possible reasons for using them. None of us like to think we will end up dealing with a company that ignores emails/doesn't dispatch orders, but the reality is, until you've placed an order with someone, you don't know, so don't feel bad about this, if you ordered from them. We all have our go-to stores online, but equally, we are always on the lookout for good prices, and 9 times out of 10, things go ok. All we can do is protect ourselves as much as possible, and for my money, Paypal & credit cards are the best safety net!

May I jump in here? If it was me, I would contact the credit card company and put in a dispute. They will deal with the company and probably refund your money. I had to do that last year.

I would definitely contact my credit card company straight away. They will also be able to advise you whether you should cancel your credit card and get a new one - just as an extra security measure & for your peace of mind. I wouldn't delay - no communication from the store is a red-flag to me.

My husband bought something for about $800 off EBay and paid using PayPal but never received the item - and contacted the EBay Seller numerous times but heard nothing. He contacted PayPal and they refunded his money straight away - he had no hassles disputing the charge and didn't need to have any more follow-up because PayPal do all that which took away the stress of it all.

Two days ago I suddenly started receiving email from them. I clicked on "update subscription preferences" at the bottom of the email & it directed me to Mailchimp.com. It asked why I wanted to cancel, I put that I never signed up for email from them. I attached the screenshot of my confirmation for unsubscribing.

Me too. Over the weekend I suddenly got an email from them. It's like they monitored everyone who clicked on their site. I also unsubscribed.

I got a couple of emails too, and hadn't the faintest idea where they were coming from. I certainly don't remember subscribing to anything - I sub to as little as possible!!
After a negative experience with a different daily deal site, I'm staying away from them anyway, so I have been ignoring the ones from PAPER deal, enticing as they look.

I suddenly received an e-mail from them yesterday. Unless they used some other company name in the past, I never signed up for anything from them. I wonder if they bought an e-mail list from some other company. In my opinion, I wouldn't put it past some defunct companies such as "Oh My Crafts" and of others of similar ethical persuasion to sell off their customer contact info.

And I believe there is ANOTHER one of these going around by the name of "Crafty Saver" with the same style: deals too good to be true (for Sizzix, this time) and the mail program used is mailchimp.com. Again, I unsubscribed and will mark it in my email program as spam.

The saying, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me" comes to mind with these.

I do visit a few Daily deal sites and one of them closed its business recently. I wonder if their username list was sold?

Just thought I would jump in after reading the comments and let you know I also started receiving the Crafty Saver emails, though not the other ones that are referenced originally. However, Crafty Savers had a special on the liquid pearls, which I have been wanting for a while but could not find locally and did not want to pay full price for online. I ordered 7 of them and they came quickly. No problems with this first order ($1.99 each) and not much in shipping (IMHO) so I was pleased. Have been looking at some of the spellbinders and considering a secord order now.

Thank you for the glowing review. I will put them on my "good" list then! ;-)
BTW, you might want to check out Scrapbookpal.com for good prices on items. I love that their minimum is $25 for free shipping.

The problem for me with Crafty Saver is they have no real contact information --zilch. Just email. But thanks for Scrapbook Pal I just ordered from them. Great prices AND they post a phone number and address.

Default The Paper Deal and Crafty Saver

Hi, jumping in here...being new here ,I am a bit behind on this thread. My experience with Crafty Saver has been positive. Not a problem ,ordered, received in the stated time.
As for The Paper Deal... :(
I ordered twice. No response to emails with questions.
Like where is my confirmation notice?
when is this really being shipped?
my " response" was a post office notice that a shipping label was created. Had the tracking number right there,. Well...
it never went anywhere.. It always showed label created but nothing else. no pick up , nothing. So another email was sent ,not nice in tone or message, this time. Either ship it really, or refund monies, answer my email or suffer the consequences. Which are notifying my cc company, pay pal, stamping friends and any one who would listen. reviews on Google and anywhere else I could post it.

But last year I had a 3 month wait for new dies with another retailer. But she would communicate so It was not a big deal.
I did receive my first order from Paper deal.. and yes before it all started , there were Tim's cityscape stamps at a screaming price.. so I am waiting.....

I don't remember signing up for their emails, thought they were purchased from someone , somewhere.
Now , mystically ,I am no longer receiving her emails.
So buyer beware, I think it's just gonna take a while to receive things, if they can stay in business. I think , as others have said, whoever it is , is in over their head and did not realize what running a business really is.. Inexperience is a real business killer. Just ignoring problems can drive good customers away..
That's all for now.

Interesting, so you really did receive your first order from The Paper Deal?!! How long did it take from the day you ordered till the day you received it?

Default The Paper Deal and Crafty Saver

hi,
my order from The Paper Deal took 2 1/2 - 3 weeks.
I don't think this is a scam , I think the person who started this and got overwhelmed and may not have the time, energy or business smarts to last. I hope they figure out the problems as They have screamin deals.

Default ctafty saver and the paper deal

hi, thought I would update this thread.. I have ordered several times from both. I have had great service. answers to emails, product shipped promptly, according to the sites rules.
I think some people have had issues with how their email got to them.I frankly do not care, I can unsubscribe any time.
Now it seems to be up and running well.. my last two orders were screaming deals and arrived in a two and a half week time period..
I will continue to shop these sites as they have preformed well for me.
No I don't work for them, I have no ties with these except shopping with them. I have been happy with them.
happy shopping, where ever you go !

Default I just ordered, THEN, i read the posts

Well, I just made a somewhat large order from the PaperDeal, then I found this thread. I hope all goes well she/he say that the items are shipped from a private shipping company and we will get tracking information from them.

I trust Paypal, as you have a guarantee and they help you with disputes. Hopefully, all the kinks have been ironed out now and my order will ship soon.

BTW, one of the items I ordered is the new TH ink color for August, and if shipping isn't fast, I would first think that Ranger is still shipping merchant orders.

We shall see will let you all know how things go.

As I mentioned, I ordered on the 19th Aug and am happy to report that my order arrived on the 24th. I ordered 3 separate deals and all were included in the shipment. I am hoping this means, things are starting to run smoothly for this company. I did not receive an order confirmation, other than from Paypal, and I never received a shipping confirmation. The package simply landed in my mail box.

The order was shipped Priority Mail 2-day.
