I spend quite a bit of time coloring an image for a card. I decided to stamp Happy Birthday right on the CS with the image. Dropped the ink pad and smudge the card. Had to stamp a new image and color that.
I put scor-tape on the second image to put it on the card base mat and the scor-tape grabbed before I had it aligned
It was so askew that I had to pull it off. I badly bent the CS with the image trying to remove it.
We all know that scor tape holds so strongly that it would hold a fender on a car !
I stamped another image and colored it. Good thing I enjoy coloring with Copics !!
Now I am afraid to assemble this card
It that isn't enough for one day I decided to throw in a load of sweatshirts & pants in the washer while I was working on a card. When I transferred them to the dryer I realized I had wash a tissue and had that mess to clean up.

I think I will leave it to assemble tomorrow. I need it by Wednesday and at this rate I will just sneak under the wire
The tissue schnibbles all over the laundry was just the frosting on the day LOL
Buggainok It looks like now you have a lot of scraps for die cuts or punches

Hi Barabara. Sorry you're having such a hard time. I completely get the tissue I. The laundry issue. In our house this happens all the time. I ave also dropped an ink pad on a project before. Once I was able to salvage the project by dropping it in a few more places on the page to make it look like I had planned that all along. As for removing things I adhere crooked (which happens more than I would care admit) I have found that gently heating the back with a craft heater allows me to pull the piece off pretty easily and more times than not, I have been able to salvage the project. If it's a particularly bad crafting day though, I do what RavioliGirl does...chocolate has magical powers.
I'm sorry about all this, lol. I know I feel like crying when I'm nearly done with a card and then do something like leave an inky fingerprint or stamp the sentiment on crooked. I wish I had chocolate to share with you! Good luck getting the card new completed, lol.
Must be something in the air! I was going to make 3 of those 6-sided treat boxes using the SU milk carton die.
1-forgot to use the crease pad instead of 2 acrylic pads so cut everything
2-forgot to cut off one section of the die cut so had 8 sides instead of 6
3-put the sticky tape on the wrong side of the die cut side tabs
4-put the sticky tape on the wrong side of the bottoms flaps

I think I cut enough side to make 8 boxes. What a waste of card stock! You have to use sturdy card stock (I used SU) because the folds have to stand up.
I did finally get my act together and get the 3 boxes done.
Sorry you are having a tough time. You might want to invest in the Cricut spatula. I use it all the time to lift up anyting that I didn't light up evenly. It is so thin that it slips under the card stock and you can carefully peel it up.
On your tissue problem - I find that Puffs tissues don't shred apart in the wash. They come out in one piece.
I just finished doing 50 Valentine cards for church family and relatives. While I was signing one I wound up with a black smudge on the inside...[must have been on my fingers, imagine that]. I just printed the word "oops" and drew a little arrow to it. I was too tired to make another one. LOL. Somewhere I saw a stamp that you could use on the back of your cards that said, "If it was perfect you wouldn't know it was handmade." The older I get, the more I like that way of thinking. LOL.

The finger smudge make me think of when I used to make fingerprint animals with the kids!
I have also done the tissue thing in the laundry so it sounds you have alot of company there. I have also dropped my stamp pad and positioned a layer on crooked. I solved that problem by cutting a border evenly around the c/s I adhered it too thus giving it another layer to attach to a new card.

That's when the Perfect Squares comes in handy. It goes along with the Perfect Layers tools. Helps you to straighten things out when you have a goof.
I can hardly make a card without messing up somehow - ink smudges probably occur the most ofen. Frequently I am able to cover up my errors but this means my card doesn't always turn out as planned. That's OK , sometimes it looks better. I have a stamp that I use on the back of my cards that roughly says all ink smudges, errors etc. are intentional and do not take away from the beauty of the card....or something like that.

Some days are like that! Just a tip on removing adhered cardstock - take a length of dental floss and slide it between the layers. I'm sure I learned that here on the boards, and it has saved me countless times!

A few years ago, I mailed off my Christmas cards. I never make the same one twice, and I do forget who gets which. Christmas comes, and I'm at my brother's. He's raving about the card, telling me how special what I wrote was, and how thoughtful it was. I'm thinking to myself - I usually just write "Merry Christmas, see you soon!" He then says that it looks like I forgot about it, so he takes the card down off the shelf and hands it back to me. I open it; it is completely blank! To this day, I wonder how many blank cards I sent out that year....
As to the op - I feel your pain. Got lots of crafty mistakes under my belt. Hope the final assembly goes well!

When that happens to me I use my heat gun to heat the layer. It will make it easier to peel off the cardstock from the adhesive.
thanks for all of the wonderful hints. I usually make such a mess trying to get things back off, I end up starting over. Now, maybe I can save a card or two.

I'll trade you... I'll take the tissue mess, instead of my mistake. Washing a load of uniforms, moving them to the dryer and found not 1, but 2 ink pens.

Oh, Barbara and afdish, I feel for you both! I have certainly had those days myself.
I remember my now ex-hubby getting upset about two laundry incidents. One was when I accidentally turned his t-shirts and jockey shorts pink and the other time was when I dried his new wool sweater, and it shrunk small enough to fit our toddler! I never owned any wool clothing, so I didn't know that it would shrink to 15 percent its original size. Whoops! I can laugh about the incidents now, but at the time both were horrifying.
I have done all of the above.....more than once! I now have a pair of pants, which I call my craftin' pants, because they are covered in glue, sparkles, ink, etc. Even washing those things hasn't removed all the stains and glue globs off!
I use Puffs Kleenexes too. I have a front loader and if I do accidentally wash a Kleenex they come out whole. That is super nice. I had enough years of having to pick the little bits out of the wash!

I have a cardigan sweater like that! I love it. It's so comfortable, but it looks terrible. My son calls it my "homeless" sweater.

Thanks for the tip on using the heat gun on the back to soften the adhesive on the scor-tape to remove it. I have put things on askew several times
The card is done and went in the mail this afternoon . I didn't have time to photo it for the gallery. The redoes took too long to get them right.
Un-du is a miracle when you need to remove anything self adhesive. It is a life saver. My LSS carries it, I'm not sure where else you can find it, but I suspect a lot of places carry it. It smells and looks like it will ruin your paper, but once it evaporates it's like it was never there!

We have had more than one iPod go through the washer and dryer! The last time, we just stuck it in a container full of uncooked rice with the lid on for a month or so. It did eventually dry out, and works fine, except for the button to go back to the menu. Good enough though.
My son is also always forgetting to take his jump drive out of his pocket, so that too has been washed many time over. Doesn't seem to affect it though - he can still get to the data on it.

OH DEAR ... that was a disaster wasn't it!!
my advice for the future would be to stamp anything before you colour your image in that way you only have to throw away a piece of stamped card. and also, when you remove the backing from your tape, only remove the corners. that way it is only stuck down a bit before you can reposition and get it in the right place. alternatively, if you remove all the liner from the tape, go over the tape with glue stick. this will make your tape temporarily repostionable.
why is it we only learn these tips after we've made a right old mess of something????

Just recently I cut a bunch of card front mats, realized I had cut the wrong size.
Carefully lined up new cardstock on my trimmer - and, darn it, cut the same wrong size, AGAIN. Talk about feeling dumb.
I took a break, had coffee and watched TV for a while.
I too have made many cutting mistakes. The worst? I was prepping for a class of 10 and I bet you can guess when I realized my mistake - yup, when no one could get the project right! LOL, I decided to call it a "teachable moment".

I did the same thing with a friend's bday card. She brought it to our ATC group and said that she thought I forgot something. I wondered what she meant since I thought it was a pretty nice card. She opened it up and there was the stamped message, but no signature. My return address label was the only reason she knew it was from me!

I think the most frustrating mishap is when you get the card front just the way you want it, all is well and then it happens...you put the card front on the card opening in the wrong direction. I'm still known to make that mistake once in a while...
When I was trying to make my first ever easel card I went through so much card stock! The first three times I cut the CS wrong. The 4th time I cut it right but scored it wrong. The 5th time I had it mostly right but made a stamping mistake (yes, I broke my own rule of not permanently adhering pieces until all bits of the card are cut/stamped). I finally got it done but it was the most frustrating thing for me to get done. EVER. And to top it all off she didn't even acknowledge the receipt of it or her present My niece (she's 32) liked the card though and let me know how pretty she thought it was.

Tissues and laundry- I taught all of my kids how to do their own laundry starting at age 10. We will not discuss what I have hauled out of the washing machine or dryer over the years. My boys are the worst. It amazes me the kinds of things they put in their pockets.
