When I have time to make cards, I want to do a layout and put the card together. Usually my time to work is limited, so I am wondering if anyone stamps images and colors a bunch when they have time for that, then when they want to put cards together, they chose a colored image for their project and go from there. Thoughts..advice...TIA!

I have done that in the past. It does tend to limit some use because I have a pre-determined size. I ususally do that with images that I will cut out and use on cards. It is a time saver, in my opinion.
Yes! Yes! Yes! I bring my copics and clipboard with me to appointments, on plane trips and basically anywhere where I will have downtime. The world can inspire my colors (I know that sounds funky-but its true!).
I found a plastic container full of colored sympathy images yesterday! I had stamped them with a friend's stamp. Of course, I had forgotten all about them!
hehehehee
Of course, doesn't everyone do that? LOL! I am planning a trip to Texas to help out my mother for a week, she is an artist. I am going to stamp out several images on watercolor paper and take my watercolor pencils and Twinkling H2O's and have her give me a lesson on watercoloring (I don't have the crayons yet, or coptics!) I often do this sort of thing right before I sell a stamp set, too, so I will still have some of the images around for the future!

I do several at one time. If I am going to get out all the Prisma's and Gamsol, do several, you can cut and use them later. I leave 4-5 on a single sheet so size is not an issue when I need one.

Whenever we are driving for a length of time I haul my images and prismas. I have a neat little set up with a lap board with velcro across the top that hold the gamsol in a dauber bottle, a plastic juice can for the pencils and a small plastic cup for the stumps. Words great for me, although DH says I NEVER see the scenery. Hey.....I look up every once in a while!

I borrowed a friend's stamp for a class I was teaching. I stamped a whole bunch of the images and put them aside. I remembered them today and went back and colored with my my Copics (I didn't have them when I first stamped them!). They were perfect for a card I had in mind and I was so glad I had them!
Yes I do I have a paper keeper that I have lots of stamped images in. I even trade/swap images with friends, and color later when I have time.
I carry this paper keeper, a clipboard, and my Prismacolor pencils with me places when I know I will be waiting around or need to kill some time.
I also love to color in bed! When I can't sleep, I take all of those things to my room and color!
I should have taken some with me today to my doctor's appointment...I waited over an hour just in the waiting room. I didn't mind the wait though...it was better than being the one in labor/delivery!!!
Yes, I do this!!! I don't like to sit idle, so I will take a stack with me when we go on a rode trip, or to my Mom's, or I'll even color when watching tv at night. Drives my poor DH nuts! He wonders why I can't just *sit* and I wonder why he sits so much!!! LOL
I do this a lot. It saves so much time for me. I especially do it for my kids. It drives me crazy when they want to make cards with me and I have to stop to help them stamp before coloring. They love to take atamped images everywhere we go. So, we are all in the car coloring! Poor DH has to drive!
Yes! When I go to visit my mother, I often stamp a bunch of images using some of my favourite stamps in her collection. Sadly, they come home with me and sit neglected in an envelope. This really reminds me that I should use them! So many stamps, so little time.....
I don't necessarily stamp them to use later, but I do stamp a sheet of images to try out different coloring techniques or just to practice coloring (cause I stink!)
I do the same thing. I need to get better in mycoloring. I just bought a big set of prismacolors and I need to break them in and try out new things. I have just been using my markers and I am not all that happy with them. Although I have decided that I like brush tips now. When I borrow sets I tend to stamp out lots of images so that I can go back and color them latter after I have returned the stamp sets.
I never pre-stamp my images because I rarely use the same stamp twice. I like to mix it up and make a specific card for a specific time or just try a new technique or layout.
When I get a new stamp I try to stamp out several images of it. Then when I have time I play around with color combos and hopefully end up with a card.

Yup! Especially when I have to crack open a new sheet of ww cardstock and use black ink on my fav stamps? I stamp a page full of images and then go back to neurotically cleaning my stamps and putting them away.

I'm doing this right now but mostly because I need the practice with my water colour crayons and using pensils with gamsol. Once in a while I get one that turns out quite nice and then I set it aside to make a card out of later.
I also get my mom to bring up her stamp collection when she comes up to visit (only about twice a year :( ) and we share stamps. Each of us stamps out what stamp we like but don't have in our own collection as many times as will fit on a 12 x 12 cardstock and cut them out or colour them to use on cards later. Kind of like the RAK swap on here but my Mom and I get to chat over coffee while we're doing it. lol

Aha! It isn't just my hubby...drives him crazy when I want to work on something quietly (coloring, winding ribbon, sorting scraps) while we watch tv.
