Default Do people still use brads & eyelets?

I do both stamping and scrapbooking. Have to admit, it's been a year or so since I'm done any scrapbooking. BUT...

I'm slowly cleaning out my craft room. There are some things that I put in a "sale" bin. I came across a kit for attaching eyelets (ya know, the little hammer, cushion, etc) plus a bunch of eyelets. And some brads. Truthfully, I can't remember the last time I used it.

Wondering if this is something that I would regret selling in the future. ***little side note, I am INFAMOUS for buying stuff, lots of stuff and then selling it all, then sometimes regretting it somewhere down the road***

Do you still use these things on your cards or layouts? Should I start throwing some into the mix?

Brads -- use them all them time. Eyelets -- can't remember the last time I used one but I sure have lots.

I have a ton of eyelets and I still use them. I don't know quite why they went out of style for scrappers, they are functional and decorative. You probably should sell your stuff if you really don't use it. Brads, all shapes and sizes and colors, will always be around, IMO, so hang on to those.

I sometimes use brads (ex: center for punched butterfly). I never use eyelets.

I will be! lol. I actually found a box full the other day in the bottom of a drawer- and realised I have so many because I forget I have them! I do use them on occasion, and having made myself a little reminder about them, hopefully will use them more often! Brads/eyelets for attaching stuff like vellum are unbeatable, tags with eyelets for threading stuff through, brads always work well on stuff for men. img_7776-w.jpg

I really don't use brads. I use the small cushion mat to pierce. I used to use them all the time. The hammer stopped being used when I got a cropadile, I use it to punch hole a little furthe in the paper now. I imagine as we all get rid of these in our spaces they will come back around as the NEW! Embellishment.

I use brads a lot, especially on steampunk and masculine cards. I think I don't use eyelets because I have OF (Operator Failure) issues using my cropadile and get crumpled eyelets. I can't seem to get the hang of using the cropadile.

Brads I use quite a lot - but I'm running out of useful colours and ending up with the less useful ones.
Eyelets not so much, but I like them for tags and certainly intend to hold onto them.
I even still sometimes use my old eyelet setter even though I have the Crop-a-Dile!

Close to my Heart is going to be phasing out brads completely, since they aren't selling like they used to... I have tons of eyelets, the tool kit, etc. just sitting around. No one wants them!

I still use both but only infrequently. I switched to stick-on bling, because there are no metal parts on the back of the paper to create a small lump when mounted.

Arlene ... I also suffer from OF and love brads! They are great for attaching layers and are fun accents. I just avoid having the legs show by adhering a backing layer if needed.

I have tons of brads and still use them regularly (scrapping) not so much with my eyelets. I need to put my eyelets in my Challenge Drawer! That's the drawer that I load up with all the unused/unloved items then challenge myself to find a way to use them on a page. It started this at the last crop I went to with good results. I had magic mesh and rub ons that found a home on pages. Eyelets will be added to the drawer!

Also makes it easy to get rid of all that stuff, if I end up with an overfull drawer!!!

I use tons of brads too! I only use eyelets at Christmas, for fancy gift tags. I almost never use eyelets on cards. I gave away my eyelet setter kit as soon as I got the Cropadile. I hated the eyelet setter kit!!!! So loud, with the hammer!!! Now when I need a hole a little farther in, I just use a piece of foam with a needle.

I do, brads more than eyelets, but I like both. I use eyelets when I add a sentiment on a little tag to my card, then I just put some twine through the eyelet and tie it like that onto ribbon or something.

I've always used brads and continue to do so. I especially like the enamel/patterned brads, for example, from Basic Grey. Another favorite for me is taking my Sugar brads from A Muse Studio, pressing them into one of our ink pads, and holding it with tweezers I dry with my heat gun. . . . perfect every time, in any color I choose!

I don't use eyelets as much but they are terrific for putting ribbon or twine through, or making closures. I've also used them quite a bit for nautical-themed cards. Also, to add little hanging sentiments.

Brads and eyelets take up such little space (unless you have a massive quantity!), that it's worth hanging onto them, just in case .

I use brads a lot and I think I always will. I have a lot of eyelets, but I usually only use them on scrapbook pages, not cards. But I think the reason I use my brads more than the eyelets is because they are sitting in containers right on top of my work area, whereas the eyelets are tucked away in a drawer. I think if I put my eyelets in plain sight, I'll still use them.

When I first started stamping, my favorite thing was eyelets. Couldn't get enough of them. Thought they were the cutest thing in the world. I have used up most of my "favorite" or go to colors. I've got quite a collection of unloved colors left. I have mostly SU stuff, so that means also the retired colors.

I use brads quite a lot. I do like the stick-on bling but have had issues with stuff coming off. I know it will stay when I use a brad!

I use brads quite a bit, eyelets not so much. I do like the look of eyelets on guy cards. Somehow they seem more "industrial" and guy-like, lol. My favorite eyelets are the larger ones.

I also make bookmarks quite often which go with altered comp books, and love eyelets for the hole at the top of the bookmark for a tassle.

Eyelets and brads are very small, take up no storage space, so I probably would never get rid of them.

I use brads a lot...never use eyelets, though I like the look. My hands are not strong enough to set them

When using brads, I usually pop that layer up with dimensionals, so the metal doesn't show inside the card

I use brads more than eyelets, but I use eyelets now and then. I use my husband's hammer and my old setters for my eyelets, and when I need to get out some frustration, I just add eyelets to a card and pound away!! I do find brads to be faster (and quieter) so I use them more.

I am looking to buy 250 copper eyelets for wedding invites. I am threading hemp through them. The invite is country themed and the eyelets are perfect. I like them for masculine cards sometimes. I'll always used them now and then.

I still use both, more brads though. I think they are easier. Eyelets come out for masculine things - they look like hardware. I think tags without eyelets are like buttons without thread - kinda naked.

I love the look of eyelets, and would use them more if I didn't consistently have operator error issues every time. Ugh. I have all kinds of shaped ones that I would love to use, but... I just end up ruining the paper and the eyelet. I gave up a couple of years ago, and they have all been shoved into a baggie, in the back of one of my embellishment drawers. (Hmmm, maybe I need to see if there is a tutorial.)

Brads, on the other hand, require a hole punch, something I eveidently DO know how to use. So I have those sitting in an organizer on my desk top, and I reach for them waaaaay more often than I ever think about the eyelets. I tend to use them when making masculine or graphic cards, although I do have some holiday themed ones as well.

I use both on & off. I use the "old looking/tarnished looking" ones from SU as a tire swing. They had that tree set awhile back woth birds flowers, etc. it makes a perfect male card. Plus Darcie came out with a half tree embossing folder that the swing looks neat with.I punch a whole, wrap twine arond the back of the eyelett, put it through the whole & then crimp it. Use a little glue do it attache it to a limb. I had the hammer set, got rid of it when i got the crop a-dile. I just went to make a card & it does not go the whole way into the part of the card I want punched. So i got the hammer set again. Guess i'll old on to this time!
