Default Distress ink predicament

Hello,

I have a predicament that I am hoping some of you talented ladies will have an answer for me.

I have a stretched canvas that I am wanting to complete to put in my bathroom. I am using distress stains and distress ink for the background. I want to seal it because I fear the moisture from the bathroom will have the ink run or smear.

My problem is I can't find a sealant that will keep it from smearing. I have tried heat setting, I have tried krylon fixative, I have tried modge podge clear acrylic sealer spray. I don't want a shiny look as I like the texture of the canvas.

Does anyone have any suggestions???

Thank you in advance!!!

I don't know if this will work, but I saw a tutorial video that used Golden soft Gel in Matte to seal a layer of Dylusion sprays. It prevented the ink from bleeding into the water based layers above it. She was experimenting with several mediums and the Golden Soft Gel worked the best. Perhaps this will work for you? The Video is in German, but with English subtitles.

I have good luck with this: Ranger Glue N? Seal | Ranger Ink and Innovative Craft Products

I get it at Michaels with a coupon.

I use the Plaid brand clear acrylic sealer (in a spray can), all the time on projects that include distress inks, without any problems. It comes in either matte or gloss; sounds like you will want to use matte. Most major craft stores carry it. I just follow the instructions on the can (especially the instructions on how close to hold the can from whatever you're spraying), and put on at least 2 coats.

Golden gel medium will smear and/or remove the distress inks when you brush it on. I learned that first-hand.

The background of this ATC (artist trading card) was created by blending distress inks, and the large corset was also colored with a distress ink. Because I also used charcoal pencil for shading on this card, and was trading it with someone, I sealed it with the Plaid clear acrylic sealer (matte).
