Default Demonstrator kit????

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if you have ever signed up as a SU demonstrator just to get the products?? I was reading on a SU website that one does not need to sell as a demonstrator to sign up and get an assortment of supplies. I would love to actually be a demonstrator if I can get enough folks interested but If I don't, it says there is no obligation to sell.

Lots of people do! It's a great deal and no you don't have to ever sell anything if you don't want to. You DO get a 20% discount on everything as a demo which is why I signed up. I mainly just buy for myself but I have a few occasional customers. Lots of people sign up for the kit and drop and lots of people just sign up for the kit and end up making a business out of it!

The only reason I signed up was to buy stuff for myself. I've never sold a thing to anyone and probably never will.

Just did this for the second time in September... I may/may not pursue this as a real business in 2013, but I'm content with the goodies I've already got, if not... If I put in the order I have "on tap" for Sale-a-bration, I'll meet the quota and be eligible for the discount for the next quarter, so win/win there, too! Another plus is getting to pre-order from the new catalogs before they go "live".

I have a person under me who has signed up 3 times now. She gets the kit when they have something special she wants and then drops usually without ever buying a thing. It is a great deal. Another reason she does it is she loves to see things before anyone else does.

when I first signed up, my intention was to get the kit and get this new hobby of mine going - 2 years later, I am still here!!!

I have several ladies in my downline who just signed up for the kit and occassionally buy a few items here and there for themselves, then drop and resign to get a new kit.

I think that is my biggest plus with Stampin' Up.....I signed up because I was meeting the mins myself. I do have some customers and have had a class but if for some reason it doesn't work for me anymore, I can always drop!!! LOVE that. Now, I started as a Hobby demo and quickly thought, why not give it a go??!!!! I am still loving it!!!!

There is no obligation to sell, but there is a quarterly minimum sales requirement if you'd like to remain a demonstrator and keep your discount. In Canada it's $400 a quarter, not sure about the US.

I say go for it! I signed up just to get the kit and here I am nearly 4 years later with a thriving business. Good luck!

It's $300 in the US so really only $280 with the 20% but by the time you pay shipping and taxes it's around $300 so I look at it as getting the tax and shipping free.

Thank you all for those replies. I'm convinced. I will sign up but what is the quarterly minimum in the US? I wish I knew about this years ago.

I am considering ordering the demonstrator kit during Sale-a-bration... can anyone tell me if Stampin' Up! is offering a special promotion for new demonstrators during Sale-a-bration? Thanks!

yes, there is information on the back of the SAB flyer about an even bigger starter kit for those joining during SAB.
