Hello to all, I was wondering if any of you do craft fairs ? If so how do you set up your table and what do you put on your table to sell ?
I was at one today and did not sell that much.
Thanks
Sophie
Here's a good thread about what people have been selling at craft shows and how much they charged per item. It might give you a better idea of what types of items do well (generally, low-cost "gifty/stocking" type items) and items that don't do as well (i.e., individual cards).
Well, I've been doing 1 or 2 craft shows each fall for a number of years. This year, sales are down, I think due to the economy. Everyone is holding on to their wallets tighter this year. My regular customers bought from me without flinching at my prices, others just walked by all the tables and bought nothing.

I should have said: This thread was originally started a couple of years ago, so scroll toward the end to find craft items people are selling this year. :p
I am finding them to be very discouraging. Did 2 this year so far - and didn't make much. I think that the really low price items do the best - although I did sell some candles. . .
At this time of year you definitely want to have mostly stuff that is less than $5 and suitable for stockings. Something I have seen in the forums is chocolate coated spoons (plastic) with crushed peppermint, crushed cinnamon candies, crushed butterscotch candies-packaged in cellophane with a nice topper. To up the ante a little you could display them in a mug with a small (vacuum sealed) bag of coffee. Get the mugs from your $1 store.
I always sell beaded pens. Sometimes just a few, sometimes alot. Small, simply altered journals have also been popular sellers for me. What sells in one place won't necessarily sell in another though. And what sells at one craft show in your town won't sell at another one in your town. I always hope for the best and make sure that if I don't sell it I wouldn't hesitate to give it to someone I know as a gift. :-)
