Default CL good deals??

As I build my inventory, I've been finding some deals on CL, or I hope they are good deals? I'm very impulsive and find a EF or die I want in a CL ad and end up buying the whole lot. Granted I'll find use for most of the other items, I'm just starting to wonder if say $50 for 10 die sets/7 EF is a good deal? Do you ever buy a entire listing to say use 70 percent of it?

I'm assuming CL means Craigs List? I only do Craigs List when someone has their stuff listed individually for a garage sale. I personally hate buying a "package deal" when I know i won't use all of it, so I don't do it.

Also, call me paranoid, but I would never go to someone's house to look at the merchandise (except if it was an outside garage sale, etc.) Would meet them at a public place like a Starbuck's, etc. We've had too many strange CL situations happen in our state!

I would say over 1/2 of my stash has been bought at significantly reduced prices from CL garage sales, so shop away! Many are reducing their own stash, or getting out of stamping all together, so great buys are out there!

Most of the listings in our area are more expensive than with a coupon/end of season clearance sale etc.

I have looked a lots that have loads of stamps for a ridiculous price. So I would say compare prices when you can. Michael's and Joann's have stamps/sets/ dies/embossing folders regularly at 40% off so that is my maximum price for anything.

I would not buy a lot unless I would use all of the items. To me, that is a waste of money.

There are too many threads on SCS about people spending too much money or have too much stash and don't know what to do with it all.

To me that kind of spending is only needed if there is a Zombie Apocalypse and all stores close.

Oh and CL/Goodwill etc drive me crazy when they list 200+ stamps and half the stamps are alphabets or smaller than an inchie.

Thanks for feedback, sometimes I have a hard time deciding what I need to have a variety of supplies. I recently got a Big Shot, so I think I need any bargain that I find.

I buy a lot on CL. (ashamed to admit to myself how much...lol), I have made some amazing deals. I did buy a couple of all or nutt'n deals. They were in the $50-75 ranges. I refuse to buy a huge lot as I wouldn't have anywhere to store any of it.

In one of the lots, there was a package of stamps that I already had as well as a TH die. There was a lot of stickers and stuff that I don't really use. I sold the stamps and the die and gave away the stickers to my grandson's elementary school teacher. It was worth it simply because of all the other stuff that I wanted. It was still a steal, plus I made an elementary school teacher very happy.

I see a lot of lots where I only want a 3rd or less of it. I don't buy those. It wouldn't be worth it to me at all. If I see a lot like this, I send them a note telling them and ask if they don't sell when they expect to sell it by, that they are free to contact me in the future if they are willing to part it out.

I have gotten emails back a month later and they ask what it is that I am partial to and I make them an offer. My thought is, if they really want to get rid of it, they'll break it up when they can't sell it that way.

It's ok to ask them to sell off separately. More times then not they will pull out what you want and rewrite their ad. Another option is to post the 30% that you didn't use on here. We all buy from each other all the time.
