I've been using Papertrey Ink white cardstock as my base for the last couple of years and absolutely love it. It's very thick and holds up nicely. It's great for one layer cards, too.
If you live near a Michaels, they have their own brand called Recollections, which comes in a 110 lb version. I have the white and the cream. Heavy (reminds me of PTI) and cheap, particularly if you use a coupon.
(most of the time I prefer Neenah Solar white, which is thinner, but for some uses the heavy works better)

I use the Georgia Pacific white cardstock from WalMart. It's inexpensive and heavy enough (I want to say 110lb) for a base. I think it comes in Black also and maybe a Cream color.

Stampin' Up cardstock is nice and heavy, all except the ultrasmooth Whisper White and Very Vanilla. Those are meant for layering. I use Naturals White and Naturals Ivory a lot as well.
Were you looking for specific colors or just the weight?

I'm going to second the recommendation for the Recollections 110lb. I've been using the Gina K base weight - which is awesome, and has more colors. But the Recollections is heavy weight, very sturdy and way cheap. Even though the Georgia Pacific says it is also 110 lb, it's index weight or something and is not nearly as substantial as the Recollections.
I can't say if it works as well as the Gina K for a one-layer card colored with alcohol markers. Haven't tried it for that - but I have heard from other people who do not like it as well for alcohol marker coloring.
I just recently purchased the Recollections brand from Michaels and will continue to use it. It is a very nice sturdy weight to be used for the base as well as very economical. I live in Canada and it is also much easier to get than ordering online...at least for me. I also tried the Georgia Pacific but only liked it for layering. Of course Gina K's is great but Michaels brand is cheaper. I don't color much with any kind of markers etc. so cannot comment at all on that.
The Recollections is a decent card stock and I do use it. My favorites, however, are from The Paper Cut. I especially like the linen and felt cardstocks. The felt has a nice texture and is really heavy duty.

There's a whole thread somewhere here on SCS about paper weights. The true test of weight is the GSM - grams per square meter. But US retailers almost never give that figure. One tricky thing about cardstock is that there is a significant difference between index and cover stock. 100 pound Index stock is considerably flimsier than 100 pound cover stock. Unfortunately, many companies don't bother to tell you which they are selling. Here's a comparison chart

The Recollections 110 lb is great, but local stores only have white and cream. I like Stampin Up colors, not the white or cream for card bases, it seems to be lighter weight than the colors. My Favorite Things cardstock is nice and heavy, too. Great colors, (Love their ink, too)
I have slowly shifted over to using almost all Papertrey paper. I keep some SU on hand in colors I particularly like and I am always stocked up on Whisper White and Very Vanilla - could not work without those - but I never use SU paper for card bases.
I do like Gina K. paper, and I keep it on hand in certain colors (hers is the blackest black I've seen) but for me Papertrey has the most beautiful colors and is a perfect weight. At $9 for 50 sheets it is not cheap, but worth it to me because I am often inspired by color and color combinations.

If you go to a stamp convention check out The Paper Cut, I have bought from them several times, especially the mulitcolor packs, definitely coverstock weight.
I tend to use the ready made value pack card blanks by Paper Studio that I get from Hobby Lobby. You get 50 cards and envelopes in a package starting at about $6.99 per pack. Bonus...use the 40% coupon and get them for alot less! There are many sizes to choose from too as well as 3 basic colors. White, Cream and Kraft paper. These are really sturdy cards and its nice to have the envelopes to match. Since we usually use these 3 colors the most I find it to be the most economical. If I want to use a different color stock for the base I am finding that I am a new lover of Stampin Up card stock. Much much sturdier than the Michaels Recollection packs even though you will be paying twice the price per pack for half the quantity when buying Stampin Up. I believe Michaels is 50 sheets for $3.99 vs Stampin up 25 sheets for $6.99. Joanns also has their own packs at $3.99 and I like using those for layers. The paper has a little texture (kind of like Bazzills) and very pretty colors. I guess it all depends on you taste and style but all in all I prefer ready made value packs of cards and envelopes from Hobby Lobby. Sorry I got a bit wordy here! LOL
HobbySue- the Recollections cardstock we're talking about is different than the packs you're talking about. The heavy weight stuff is only sold in packs of 250 sheets for $12.99 (although never pay that, because - coupons!) and it's only available in white and cream. It's much heavier than the other Recollections, and it's also heavier than Stampin' Up colors.

I like the Georgia Pacific 110 pound white card stock. I've only seen it in white; I'd love to have some off white. It's cheap and goes a looooong way! I agree the white Sau card stock is a bit thin for card bases, but I do use the other colors for cards.
I use the recollections paper. I love it. It is 12.99, but, of course, we always use a coupon. I had 55% off from ACMoore and then a 15% of entire purchase which Mike's honors. I just might have bought enough white for life. I do use some of it for my stamping friends for birthday gifts. I found Assorted colors and black (only available in individual sheets) at Joann's. The label calls it Bazzill Basics paper. The black is Licorice Twist. If you look at the Bazzill web site they list this under their Cardshoppe line and it is 100 Lb. Great for card bases. If JA has paper on sale - this week 4 for $1.00 plus 15%off total purchase - it figures out to be 5 sheets for a dollar. It also comes in some very nice colors. I called their 800 number but Cardshoppe isn't available in anything other that single sheets and in store only. Happy stamping - Bobbi

Often on sale. I don't like SU paper for card bases. Too thin in my opinion. I have purchased GK heavy weight cardstock - 120 Lb. I cannot get it to score well. Very jagged. Also, I bought the white so that I could do 1 layer cards, using Copics. Gina says it won't bleed through. It doesn't but...the Copics do not blend well. The color just stays on top, looks shiny and not good at all. Anyone else have this problem? Have a great stamping day...B.

I use both Gina K heavy card stock and PTI card stock for copics. No problem with either one of them. No shiny problems with either one.
Are you using a score board? I have no problem when I use a score board. But if I use a score piece on a cutter then I have a problem when I use heavy card stock.

I use any free paper from my local paper store (Kelly) that they have in the back that they are getting rid of. Have some great whites and off white - but one needs to live near a paper store.

Yes, Yes, Yes, on the Gina K white paper! I never use it for card bases anymore because it doesn't score worth a darn. The paper along the score has jagged pieces that I have to cut off with a scissors. I never have this problem with Papertrey Ink white paper or Gina K's other colors, but I won't be buying her Pure Luxury white again. Beware of it!!
I believe Gina K is posting a video on her site about scoring their cardstock. She replied that the white cardstock needs to be scored multiple times before folding.
