Default Cards...

when you make cards do you ever just use blank cards, or do you always cut yours from card stock?Yesterday at Target they had some really lovely blank cards, blank on outside and inside, that looked they were just begging to be stamped on...really good quality, nice cardstock, and nice envelopes, 10 cards and envelopes for 2.78 so I bought two packs of them. I also bought some new cardstock too because mine was really depleted, but I am anxious to try out these blank cards...

When making my cards I cut my cards from Card stock. I take a full 8 1/2" x 11" Card stock and cut it to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" size.

Then I'll add layers to my card. I have purchased Envelopes through a online store. Called California Paper and gotten at a very good price.

So I am set for at least a year with Envelopes.

If it's begging to be stamped then by all means stamp on it!!! I've used blank pre-mades like that...why not???? ;)

I use premades all the time - don't have to worry about finding an envelope that fits.

I'm not afraid to make my own blanks and have done its just what has worked for me.

Please excuse the Hijack...but if you use a lot of white cardstock for bases did you ladies know that you can take a whole ream to Office Max and they will cut it inhalf for $1.13? Wow what a time saver.
Back to the original programing....

Years ago I took many reams to Kinko's - they cut them in half for free! (but maybe they charge for that now too)

I cut my cardstock myself. I can make my own envelopes if I need an odd-sized envelope - it is like wrapping a flat gift. (I love gift-wrapping) But most of my cards are the standard 4.25 x 5.5 size. Pre-made envelopes are so much easier to use! I think pre-made cards would be too, though I have never bought any.

I usually cut my own. The cardstock is a bit heavier. But I have purchased a package or two of pre-mades in bright colors.

I will always cut my own. I'm very particular about the quality of the paper I use. Also, packaged ones are not true A2 cards. If they are that inexpensive, then it stands to reason the quality of the paper/envelopes would also be poorer.

I make all my own envelopes for whatever card. I like mine to match both in colors and type of paper.

Great Bargain!
I do both, I've found lots of great premade, great quality cards w/envelopes and used them, but I do lots of cards from scratch too!

I love to stalk Target for great deals!!

Have fun!

If you can get them reasonably priced, why not? You can certainly use pre-made for some cards and make your own for others. No wrong or right way.
