when you make cards do you ever just use blank cards, or do you always cut yours from card stock?Yesterday at Target they had some really lovely blank cards, blank on outside and inside, that looked they were just begging to be stamped on...really good quality, nice cardstock, and nice envelopes, 10 cards and envelopes for 2.78 so I bought two packs of them. I also bought some new cardstock too because mine was really depleted, but I am anxious to try out these blank cards...

When making my cards I cut my cards from Card stock. I take a full 8 1/2" x 11" Card stock and cut it to 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" size.
Then I'll add layers to my card. I have purchased Envelopes through a online store. Called California Paper and gotten at a very good price.
Please excuse the Hijack...but if you use a lot of white cardstock for bases did you ladies know that you can take a whole ream to Office Max and they will cut it inhalf for $1.13? Wow what a time saver.

Years ago I took many reams to Kinko's - they cut them in half for free! (but maybe they charge for that now too)
I cut my cardstock myself. I can make my own envelopes if I need an odd-sized envelope - it is like wrapping a flat gift. (I love gift-wrapping) But most of my cards are the standard 4.25 x 5.5 size. Pre-made envelopes are so much easier to use! I think pre-made cards would be too, though I have never bought any.
I will always cut my own. I'm very particular about the quality of the paper I use. Also, packaged ones are not true A2 cards. If they are that inexpensive, then it stands to reason the quality of the paper/envelopes would also be poorer.
I make all my own envelopes for whatever card. I like mine to match both in colors and type of paper.
I use both.
Sometimes I can get nice premade ones with envelopes in lovely colours .. say greeen.. or red.. for Xmas...
and then I can always add layers...
