Default Cards for recovering soldiers

Apologies if this has already been posted of if this is the wrong place.

A friend had this on her Facebook.

When filling out your Christmas cards this year, take one card and send it to this address: A Recovering American Soldier, c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 6900 Georgia Avenue, NW Washington, DC 20307-5001. If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards those who have sacrificed so much would get!

Jennifer, Snopes.com reports that Walter Reed is not accepting cards for soldiers and has not done so for several years. Please refer your friend to the article for details on why that program was discontinued.

Snopes reports that Pitney Bowes and the Red Cross are sponsoring a 'holiday mail for heroes' program this year, and the post mark deadline is Dec. 10. Here is the Red Cross' blog with more info on that program.

Aieeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Thank you for letting me know. The person who gave me the info was someone who I thought would have "Snopesed" it before posting - so I didn't check.

I'll let her know asap.
