Default Cards for Canadian Troops

This was originally posted on a ink-stains.com thread, but I thought I would copy it here. It's a great idea!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a newly established group where you can send your handmade cards:

A Card for Home
P.O. Box 40, Canadian Forces Base
Shilo Manitoba R0K 2A0

This has recently been set up by two military wives whose husbands are deployed. They're asking for donations of greeting cards for the troops to send HOME to loved ones.

The sizes requested are 8 1/2 by 11 inch cardstock cut into two pieces, which, when folded, will be (closed) 4 1/4 by 5 1/2. This is to streamline mailing them overseas.

Occasions requested:

Thinking of You
Anniversary
Birthday Child
Birthday Adult
New Baby
Love

They ask for envelopes to go with each card.

I've done mine in sets, which include two of each occasion requested, so the deployed folks can then have a little packet of cards for themselves.

Hopefully some of you might find this a worthy cause. I'm always creating cards for the fun of creating...and there they sit! (lol)

~Deborah.

Thanks for posting this. I will have to find some time to do this since it's so close to my home (same province). I have no excuses for not doing this one.

Thanks so much for this Deborah, my daughter and I have been looking for an addy to send cards to...and your idea of a little packet for each soldier is a great idea!

Deborah - do you have an email addy so that I can correspond with the organizers of this? - I have an idea that this would be a great community event but I don't want to overwhelm them, so I have a few questions...

TIA
Joann

I can probably get your the information - they're about 10-15 minutes away from me and they were just in the local newspaper over the weekend.

Or, if you want, you can pass the info on to me and I will find someone. I know quite a few ladies that are quite involved in this.
