Do any of you lefties have problems with your stamping/colouring? Multiple times in the past few days I have been colouring an image only to lift my hand to find I have smudged the wet ink. Aaargh! It's a pain!
Any tips to remind me to turn the cardstock or to be especially careful?
I'm a lefty and I don't experience that problem. I use stazon ink which dries quickly. If I'm using pigment ink I make sure and let it dry before I start coloring or I heat set it with my heat gun. I color using OMS and prismas or my prisma markers.
I'm also a lefty & have never had any problems with colouring. Are you an overhand writer/colourer or a 'normal' (hold & write the same as a righty would but with the left hand instead).
One way you can make sure not to smudge is to have a folded tissue or paper towel under your hand as you colour/stamp & to maybe stick a post-it note somewhere at eye level with a message in bold reminding you to do that & to turn your card as you colour.

I'm a lefty also and never had a problem with coloring -- I am in the habit though of starting from the right and working left to avoid such a thing though! Usually I do my coloring in after the ink has set, whether I have stamped in Basic Black which I set for a while to dry and then color (usually I stamp a bunch of images and don't get to color until the next session actually) or have heat embossed what I need to color so that ink is not running.
I haven't had trouble with it, but only because I am not using coloring mediums that stay wet long. Whenever I do a pencil drawing, I have to go back and clean up all the smudges from draging my hand across my work.
Another lefty weighing in. I try to work from right to left when colouring, just like Pigfingers and Lederme do. It's so much easier and I rarely get any smudges. I'm also big on turning the paper, The only way I learned my lesson was to do lots of smudging now I remember all the time.
I'm a normal lefty too and have not had any problems, I seem to smudge ink and pencil more when I am writing in a notbook more than anything. When are they going to make a notebook for lefties?

Actually they do. Here is the link. Lots of info on here

I love using the notebooks that have the spiral on the top!! they cost more but it's worth the hassle!!
I'm a lefty. I turn my project as I color. I like to use paint and this way I avoid smudges. By the time I'm done coloring I will have turned the picture to all 4 sides.
As a mom to two lefty girls,,,,one thing that helped them was to work with the image upside down and from right to left.....It seemed the top always had fewer areas to color and so forth.
You should have seen me trying to teach them to sew!!!!!!!

thanks for all your replies. Working from right to left is a great idea, but doesn't come naturally to me. When I say I smudge it, it's usually when using watercolour pencils and my hand goes in it then smudges the rest of the image. It's soo annoying, and I've done it so many times now!
I'm a lefty and I love to color... I don't know that I have issues with ink smearing, I tend to hold my hand down and not over the top like many lefties. I guess if it were a problem, I'd try to start on the right and move to the left... I do that when I am using leads for drawing...because THAT does smear for me.
Good luck!
