I had to come on here and tell y'all what happened last night! We were all watching TV and I casually asked my daughter to watch in the mail for some ribbons (offered up by Tamijo so sweet) and some stamps that I have bought (from StampinAnnie and Maryrose) and my lovely, and sometimes too smart for her own good, 16 year old daughter looked up at me with big eyes and said "You gave your address and MONEY to STRANGERS on the INTERNET?!?!?" And I said "They are crafty stampers like me, they are ok" and she said "Do you think stalkers only hang out at stalker.com??" and I just did not know what to say!! Looks like I taught her well, huh? Maybe a little too well!! How the heck does that happen that your kids get old enough to give you your own advice?? The hubs just looked at me and laughed and said in his best sarcastic tone "See where your crafting addiction has gotten you? ...want a piece of candy little girl? C'mere, I'll give you a ride" My family cracks me up!

Reason: Typo
This is too funny, Yea I never would have hesitated to give all that info plus money to anyone here. Guess I am am just as trusting about SCS. I mean you just have to believe that some places are safe. Save me a sit for that ride!! LOL
That is hilarious ... and sounds just like my family!
And yes, you did a great job of teaching your daughter about strangers and Internet safety.
But you need to tell your husband that the next time he tries to bribe a crafter, he needs to offer up something better than candy. Pretty paper, fancy punches, Copics ... those are what he needs if he wants to get you in his car. ;-)
HAHA I will come home one night and there will be someone outside my house in a trench coat "Pssst, lady, want some stamps? Come 'ere and have a looksie, I got Stampin' Up, Stampendous, Inkadinkado...I got more in the van if you don't see anything you like. What's yer pleasure?"

Here's the kind of people that come to SCS: When I was very new several years ago, I mentioned casually on a thread that I scanned my cards because I didn't have a digital camera.
The next day I got a private message, worded so sweetly, ie. "I don't want to offend you...... but I just got a new camera, and I would love to send you my old one. It works perfectly fine."
It just blew me away that someone wanted to do that for someone they didn't know on the internet. I declined nicely, because my dd had already promised me her camera when she got her new one.
You just can't beat the folks at SCS!!

I needed some policewoman stamps a few weeks ago to do a card for my daughter who was graduating from the sheriff's academy. I asked if anyone knew where I could find one. People responded telling me about this one set or that. One sweet woman (you know who you are) offered to stamp some images and send to me. Then decided to just send me the whole set and for me to "just return whenever I was done". She didn't know me from Adam. No request for money for postage for the shipping envelope. I, of course sent her a thank you and a little cash. Yeah, I love everyone here on SCS!

Great stories! I just did a trade with someone and DH thought I was a bit (ok, a lot) nuts for sending my treasures off to someone clear across the country and that I didn't know in real life. The trade went perfect with both of us doing exactly what we promised.
I posted on the In Search Of... Forum that I would like to buy USED a certain Nestie set. Within minutes I got a PM from a Stamper who said she had the set, didn't need it and would mail it to me.
A free set that I know new costs $24.95 just seemed way too spooky. "There is no free lunch," I told DH. "I'm afraid to give her my address." He knows a gent with a P.O. Box so advised me to give that as my address, which I did. Honestly I never expected the package to arrive. I mean, who gives away to a perfect stranger a BRAND NEW set of Nesties? It was a stunning adventure to find the set in that P.O. box a few days later.
I'm still blown away and have offered her a Cuttlebug Die Plus of almost equal value, but she said she needs nothing and if I "pass the favor along" that will be thanks enough.
I have "passed the favor along" with relatively small items to 10 people on the Pay it Forward thread, but I still feel pretty much the thief for owning this set of Nesties I never could have afforded to buy new.
This SCS community is indeed unbelievably awesome. I'd been scammed enough times on Ebay, A LOT of dollars worth, even though I thought I was being REALLY careful, so I arrived at SCS as a true skeptic. Now I'm a Believer, here.
My gift from a fellow SCSer was not an expensive item, but took her a lot of time and effort. I was new to the world of Copics and so conflicted about what colors to buy. I asked on a thread how people made this difficult decision. A kind soul sent me a multi-page chart with all of the colors of Copics that she owned colored in for my reference. I have used that chart to make every color choice of Copics that I have purchased. It was/is wonderful to be able to see what the color actually looks like. I'm sure it took her awhile to fill out the chart, and to mail, etc. It was a gift that I have been using for over a year now and I still wonder sometimes why she was so sweet to me, a complete stranger. You gotta love SCS and the wonderful people who hang out here!!
I once casually mentioned on one thread that I didn't own any christmas sentiment stamps and that when my budget allowed I would get one. Lo and behold! One of the sweetest stampers on this earth, said she wanted to send me something and asked me for my address, which I gave. A few days later I see a PTI Christmas sentiments stamp set in my mail box!
Yes I've never hesitated to send my postal address to anyone on SCS and my DH is always befuddled seeing me posting mail all over the world. I've "sold" stamps to stampers in Australia and he's surprised that people from all over the world are willing to trust each other on this site! Yay for SCS!
I am not one of those "internet is evil" people, but I have heard of a couple not making good on their promises to send some products on a B/S/T forum, and that's the only reservation I would have when making a transaction online through a forum. I wouldn't be scared/hesitant at all to give you guys my address, heck there are whole forums dedicated to RAKs!!

I am the biggest skeptic ever. If it sounds too good to be true, it is...UNTIL SCS! I don't know what it is about the people on this site, but I've been gifted several items over the two years I've been on here and I have passed it on whenever possible. I love the fact that I can come here and not worry about horrible language and arguments. This is my happy place!
This site and the people who are part of the SCS communit are absolutely awesome! Last year, when my youngest daughter was graduating from our homeschool program, I really wanted to make her graduation invitations extra special. My graduation stamps were limited and I was quite tired of adapting them everywhich way I could. I saw a photo in the gallery and absolutely loved it! I messaged the very talented stamper and she was so extremely helpful. I purchased the stamp from an online store but she offered to cut the layers for me with the set of Nesties she used (I didn't have that particular set). She even sent me photos to my email that were enlarged so that I could see greater detail for inspiration. My daughter is physically handicapped and has overcome huge obstacles to get where she is and this was so extremely important to me. And this was only one such incident. When my daughter fractured both legs (she has brittle bones) just days after returning from out of state to obtain her service dog, she was flooded with cards from my SCS family. Same happened on her 16th birthday. She was never expected to live past 2. The helpfulness and encouragement here cannot be beat!
This whole thread needs the Facebook "like" button! Love these stories! Thanks for sharing. I have also received items via WRAK, RAK, Pay it Forward, and I always feel that I have gotten the best end of the deal.
Love the stories ! Even though I've had some bad exchanges with a couple of people, the good exchanges have made up for them. One I'll never forget is when I really wanted some cartridges and one of our ladies heregot them for me from Michaels because they had them on sale (thanks Dekalfa !) .
I beseech you imploringly regarding six million United States dollars. Thank you for your most recent submission of checking account info. I will wire most expeditiously the monies mentioned from the national Bank of Liberia. Your most humble and gracious servant, Prince of Liberia, maryrose.
Oh Mary Rose, you crack me up......I, too, have had wonderful trades from SCS...(Thanks, Loraine, for the wood blocks in perfect sizes....no more doublemounts! Jeanne
That is hilarious! Just when I think I am not going to get any more of those crazy email in my yahoo account, I will get 20 in one week! You made me laugh and I soooooooooooooooo needed it!

Too funny Mary Rose!!! (I too am apparently a millionaire several times over and have many dear friends in China ;) )
Love all of the stories and I feel the same way -- I've had many many many trades and sales on BST and only one bad apple in the bunch. That's a pretty darn good record.
