Default Beaded Pens & red sticky tape question

I've made the beaded pens and have always used the red sticky tape sheets and cut to fit. I cut the tape 1-3/8" wide to fit around the RSVP pen and that gives me a very small overlap.
I noticed that Pennywisearts.com has a role of red sticky tape in two sizes - 1-1/4" wide and 1-1/2" wide. Has anyone tried either of these sizes. I'm thinking the 1-1/4" won't be quite wide enough and the 1-1/2 would give me too much of an overlap.

Any feedback you all can give me would be a greatly appreciated! I'd rather not pay the money for the tape and then find out I can't use it for the pens.

Thanks much!!

I used this tape when I was making beaded pens. Works great! I didn't worry about the 1 1/2 being a tad wider. Just used it as it was and it worked great.

I have used the wider as well and it works fine, I also have used the tape sheets and you just cut them down to size. I actually like the sheets better because I had less mess on my scissors and you can cut the sheets down to size with your paper cutter.

The two ladies that run Pennywise, Suzanne and Yvonne, are really nice. They should be able to answer your question. I learned how to do beaded pens from Suzanne. A nicer lady you will not meet.

Awwww,...... thanks so much for your sweet compliment! We do love what we do! All of the replies on the tape size question are right in line with everything that I would say! The 1 1/4" tape was designed SPECIFICALLY to fit a bic round stick pen almost exactly - that is what I use unless I have scraps of the sheets laying within closer reach than my roll!

Hugs!

I actually use the PWA O'So Sticky Tape sheets for my beaded pens. I like the paper backed tape because I use it for so many other things (using punches, beading images, etc.) and it's easier to cut out. I just cut it to size on my paper trimmer for the beaded pens. I also use the Bic pens to bead on the outside. I stamp my image, wrap it around the pen, put the O'So around and bead. I make shaker pens out of the RSVP pens using beads that coordinate with my projects. Suzanne, the owner, has instructions on the Pennywise Arts website for beaded pens using the O'So Sticky Tape sheets. She's awesome.
