I'm making a card with the poem about baby's first penny but I'm not sure how to attach the penny. Obviously I want them to be able to remove the penny at some time so how to attach it? I thought of a bag made of ribbon but then you can't see how shiny the penny is.
Advice?????

I used my Notch tool from Basic Grey to attach the penny to the card I just made for a baby girl shower in September.
It cuts a little moon shaped notch and I just did it twice to fit around the penny
Did a search and found these two poems regarding baby's first penny. Very cute.
Babys First Penny
Heres babys first penny,
So shiny, bright and new,
Just staring out in life
Like newborn babies do.
Its meant to bring good fortune
During the years that lie ahead.
To be treasured as a keepsake
Until your child is wed.
Then on that day most special,
With "something old and new,"
The bride is meant to carry
A lucky penny in her shoe.
Whether she should be your daughter
Or your sons intended wife,
The promise of good fortune
Will charm their married life.
And also this one:
Precious one, so small, so sweet
Dancing in on angel feet
Straight from Heavens brightest star
What a miracle you are!
Now heres a lucky penny
To celebrate the year of your sweet birth,
May it bring you happiness, good health,
Long life on earth.
And as life goes by and wedded bliss
tenderly comes your way
You can give this to your one true love
In remembrance of your special day.

Thank you! I thought of rubber cement but thought I'd check and see what others used.
I heard about this type of card here on SCS -- I have the Baby's First Penny poem. I like the other poem andreajean posted too. Now I have to decide which to use!
When I'm done I will be sure to post it in my gallery.

I used a glue dots and pop dots on my baby poem cards. If I am sending the card in the mail, I use glue dots but if I am going to a shower, etc, I use a pop dot. The ones that I make to sell I use pop dots so if it is towards the end of the year and you arn't sure of 07 or 08, the pop dot works best (keeping the penny side sticky till needed) and I don't attach the penny. Make sense?????
I've done these cards before. I use a glue dot or that industrial strength type double-sided tape that has the red liner. I stamp the poem on vellum and tie it to the front of the card using a sheer pink or blue bow, depending on the gender of the baby.
Thanks for the great idea! My brother and sister-in-law announced in October they are expecting twins due in May but will probably be here around my dad's birthday in April! I think I will have to make a card for each!
My nephew and his wife are expecting their first - thank you for posting and the great ideas. The cards are wonderful. Seen the stamp today at (Stamp Fanci in Pittsburgh) for the first time. Can't wait to try it. I like the idea of the vellum.
What a beautiful idea! I have never seen or heard of this before! I have a baby shower in a couple weeks and this is perfect. Thank-you for the wonderful idea and poems!
