Default Ask Beate - Mel's technique/problem with brayering embossing ink

I received two similar great tips for this week's Ask Beate hint:

A followup to Mel's watermark w VersaMark technique: If you leave the embossed paper in the embossing folder while you apply the versamark, the raised areas have a bit of support and should keep the brayer off the background.

An extra tip for Sue who asked about Mel's Distress Watercolor Dry Embossing technique. Rather than taping to a flat surface, try leaving the embossed paper on the folder. The plastic design will support the raised lines from beneath and help prevent stray ink. You still need a light touch but I find this helps when brayering anything onto embossing.

The other trick is to choose a folder where the raised lines are reasonably close together - the bigger the "open" areas of the design are, the more likely you are to get ink in there. This is a different technique but involves brayering onto embossed cardstock; the first step includes examples of good and not so good folders if a visual would help: Glitter highlighted embossing
