I don't believe the original version of Aileens Tacky Glue is acid-free. But that's not the reason I don't use it for assembling cards. I've just found that most liquid adhesives dry too slow for my needs.
Like Bugga, I use my ATG gun. When the ATG doesn't work (item too small or too bulky) I usually reach for the Glossy Accents (holds extremely well, but will shine if it leaks out from under the item) or gel matte medium (no shine).
Also, like Bugga (Yeah, I'm a copy cat!), I don't use acid-free for my cards. But I do when working on scrapbook pages because I hope they will be treasured by my sons and any children they might have--though it doesn't look like I'll be a grandma in this lifetime.
Thanks for you input, ladies. Interesting that you don't worry about acid free for your cards, but then I don't expect people to keep those cards I send forever anyway.
Dini, do you use the original Tacky or do you think you need to get the acid free type.

In fact, I suspect that some of the ones I send only last long enough to be looked at on their way to the wastebasket. I'm not being tacky, but I know lots of people who like receiving cards, but don't keep them even a little while.
I have a good friend who reads her morning newspaper and puts it in the trash by 9 A.M. every day. (Don't ask me how long I let mine hang around.)

I don't use any kind of Tacky on cards because it wrinkles the paper. I find it too thick to just get little dabs of glue, no matter how hard I try.
I use the Tombow Mono Multi (green bottle). It lasts a long time, sets up quickly, and doesn't wrinkle the paper...at least as long as you only use a little bit, and that's definitely all you need.
I use the original Tacky glue and I honestly never even thought about the acidfreeness of it. I haven't had a problem with wrinkling at all. With lighter weight cardstocks, sometimes the glue lines are visible, but that is easily solved by scraping the glue into an even layer with a credit card or palette knife... I just use heavier cardstock. If you're working on archival projects or you have a concern about yellowing, I'd go ahead and get the acid free formula - I wouldn't think the sticking power would be any different.
