After making a ton of Christmas cards, I have NO desire to stamp!
All I want to do is clean my stamp room! Someone please call for help, I need resuscitation!

Why don't you try giving your stamp room a good clean up and see if that doesn't help your desire to stamp! My husband and I recently moved into our first house and unfortunately my stamp room was the last room to get set up. Just this week I put the finishing touches on getting it set up and let me tell you I've been in there stamping like crazy! Nothing gets my creative juices flowing like a nice clean space! Hope this "lull" doesn't last long!
My problem is that I don't ever want to make my Christmas cards again!!! LOL
I think that those great picture cards are perfect...everyone will get handmade bday, anniversary and through out the year cards but I am not making fifty some odd cards for Christmas next...it was not fun after about the 40th card... I know that is terrible but I would muc rather make cookies next year than fifty cards again....I hate a HUGE deadline! LOL Perhaps if I made them all the same it would have been easier but I made about five or six different kinds and each one I tried to make as nice as the others...LOL Ahwell, Once I find my room again I will stamp something!!! LOL And then perhaps I will upload it to my gallery!
Oh I can empathize! I made 100 cards. THis year I let my family choose a style. Ifound a few in the gallery I liked and printed them and made the family vote (Never again!!) I cased someones card from Loads of Love. Way to much work.
Now after all that early this morning I dreamt of next years CHristmas card. Now that is scary. I could make a prototype tho an start searching for the paper I want.
I too have to clean my room, err ahh house! Everything!
I saw (in the picture) a heat gun, some crystal effects, and is that playdough next to the modge podge? Don't tell me you were stamping on that too

That's what my kitchen table looks like 264 days a year! I had to take a picture of my table yesterday with nothing on it so my friend actually believed me.......I was on the phone with her and DH yelled "Even [i] I [/] can't freakin' believe it...."
Well, today......it all goes back on the table. And now, because I HAD to clean it, I can't find my rubber scissors!!! And I have 6 or 7 sets to mount today!!

I feel your pain - I really would like to work on my scrapbooks and stamping but I just can't bring myself to do it.... my tables are piled up, still need to put a couple cards together for my family (pkgs go out after christmas) and I just dont want to even tackle that mess!
I too think that 60-70 cards is too much work and trouble - maybe I can make 10 or so at a time every month until November then I will not be so overwhelmed on the 20th of December!!!

Oh my gosh!! This is what my kitchen table looks like between Thanksgiving and when the Christmas tree comes down. Unfortunately, my stamp table in the living room is right where the tree goes every year.
Seriously, though, what's with the playdoh in the picture???

HAHA.. when i started looking for something in the pic.. the playdough was the first thing that caught my eye.. how funny.

LOL!!!!!! The "10 Cards a Month" Strategy is exactly what I thought of while lying in bed last night!! Do you think we can actually do it? Maybe we could start a support group here on SCS where everyone commits to making 10 Christmas cards every month for a no-stress December???

I can totally relate to this. I was talking to someone this morning that I had the same problem, except that not only do I stamp I bead, sew, knit, crochet... ugh!!! Think about project for all of those areas! I have two tables in my area and both of them are covered! lol Thank goodness I live alone so no one can complain!!!

That picture of your table is too funny! My area was looking like that too and today I finally cleaned and organized it all!! It's a great feeling! Plus I mounted 9 stamp sets! However, I'm not ready to stamp yet...I stamped about 120 Christmas cards. My fingers haven't recovered yet!

I think the 10 cards a month idea is a great one also. Although I mad 80 cards this year 20 each of 4 different styles so that I wouldn't get bored with just one type. Let me know if this 10 card a month thing is a go.
I've been stamping for nearly 7 years it makes me happy to know that I am not the only one that divorces stamping for a good while post Holiday and has a post-stamping table that scares the beegeebees off me! I have already spent 4 hours trying to find 1/2 of it--but to no avail! I have too many layers of STUFF on it. I am happy to say I created 75 cards, 55 gifts and 24 thank you cards (I make separate batches for the kids and me/DH). Stamping is a vacation for me, if it ever becomes work I will leave it straight way! If I can get myself away from this site I will get to writing those T-yous out!
I limited myself to about 40 holiday cards. My entire stamp room looks like that little table. I also did a LOT of hand-stamped gifts this year.
I had to LOL! because I occasionally get comments on my photos of my stamping studio in the gallery (forgot to turn notifications off), and they think the room looks like that NOW. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooope!
Room looks like that table. With stuff migrating out the door and around the corner into the family room. . . NOT good!
Lucky for me, DH is putting in a high perimeter shelf for me to increase my storage--this could be good or bad, depending on if I continue to acquire! EEK!
Seriously, tho, MANY stampers forego doing hand-stamped HOLIDAY cards. Probably, because like me, mass-production takes the fun out of it? I'd much rather have birthday, get-well, thank you cards on hand and have fun making sets of 6 each of those, than mass producing the same holiday card over and over.
But, maybe next year I'll make only 12 of several different holiday card designs and that will make it more fun?????? Or, maybe I will just give myself a break and use store-bought so I can devote even MORE time to those gifts I enjoy making and giving . . . hmmmmmmm.
And, maybe I'll just wait and think about it next year! LOL!

I did 180 holiday cards with hot chocolate in the middle for my sister's company. Then I made about 30 cards for myself to send out. The last 2 nights I've been working on making little calendar holders which I have finished and used as thank yous to friends and family. I am a little burned out, but got some cool new accessories that I'm wanting to try out, so maybe that will bring back the inspiration. I agree that having a clean area sometimes gets the creative juices flowing again. I am interested in the 10 cards a month if it gets going, please let me know!

I also vowed this year to start my Christmas cards early, but after the responses I got on my cards this year, I know I can't go store bought. I had a woman pull my husband aside in church today (couldn't find me...I was counting) and told him to pass the message to me that ours was the best holiday card they received this year and thanked him profusely. And they own two business and know a ton of people so I really am so honored!
As for the stamper who used "loads of Love" for her Christmas cards and found it to be too much work, I also used it but I cheated on the coloring. I cut a piece of fun foam in the shape of the truck (after stamping the design) and also in the shape of the wheels. Then I used it with my UM acrylic block and stamped the color right into the outline of the truck and the wheels. Since the block was clear, it was pretty easy to line up and it went fast. I made 48 of this style in about 2 1/2 hours. Hope that will help someone else next Christmas. I know it saved my hiney this one!!!
I have no desire to stamp christmas cards but I went to Archivers today and picked up a bunch of kewl things to get started on Valentines Cards lol. the lady there thought i was nuts. I also picked up a Karen Fosters Clickit which is a embosser - hole puncher - eyelet setter all in one its kinda kewl no more hammering at midnight to wake everyone in the house up.
1. I was sitting in the only available seat in the room (used to be my living room) when I took the picture. My husband just shakes his head and laughs. I'm sure glad he has a sense of humor!
2. No, I was not actually stamping on the playdough, one of my daughters is bi-polar and she uses it as a destressor. She was a great help in making cards.
3. I have almost found the table and have found the rug, there is hope!
Wow - thank you so much for posting that picture - although I wonder how you got into my craft room - I have been reading this and thought after seeing the first picture of the table - not too bad - mine is worse but you made me feel great thank you for sharing "our" mess mine is par with yours

Mary
Do you land sitting on the floor to work because you know exactly where each item is in the mess and don't want to fowl up the system once you get going - I know that is how I am?
Mine looked like that right before Christmas but after I finished wrapping all the Christmas presents that were everywhere in my room. I literally had no walking space. then I decided to clean. so mine is bearable right now but is still not up to par as I would like it but definately can walk in there at least. Its funny how it stacks up so quick.
My DH bought me a pine board, some wire crates and some desktop storage!!!! and the time yesterday to clean up my messy stamp area in the basement. I felt the same way, I wanted to stamp but needed to go through scrap pile that was taking over the work space. Took almost 2 hours but area is clean and I might actually stamp tonight...
