Do you use dingbat fonts in place of digis and/or stamps? Do you consider them legit? When posting a card pic where a dingbat is used in place of a digi or stamp, what do you classify it as? Do they fall into the same category as digis?
There are a lot of great dingbat fonts out there (fave site is free dingbat fonts | DingbatDepot.com) and I find they're a good go-to source for one-off images when I don't have a suitable stamp for a card. For someone like me who is technically challenged, I also find them useful because of the ability they offer to change sizes and colors without the use of Photoshop or other fancy programs that I don't have.
I'd like to know what other cardmakers think about them, whether they feel they're "cheating", or are somehow not really stamped images.
Thanks for your input. Looking forward to some other opinions.

Well, if it's printed from a printer then it is not stamped. My opinion. Whether it's a digi-stamp, clip art, wing-ding...they are all the same thing when you break it down. Does it matter? Nope. I don't think so anyway. An image is an image as far as I am concerned. I print sentiments all the time because, frankly, it's free....why not use it. I say go for it! If you like the image and you are having fun, knock yourself out So it's not "stamped" out, you are still using the creative process and that's what we are all here for. I think so anyway.

I use dingbat fonts all the time for card images. Here are 4 cards I made quite a while ago with dingbats: z most - Homemade Cards, Rubber Stamp Art, & Paper Crafts - Splitcoaststampers.com. I'm not concerned what people think of as stamping. All I'm concerned with is if its an image I like - doesn't matter how I get it on the paper because once its on the paper, I treat it the same as if I used a piece of rubber to apply the ink - I just used a printer to apply the ink - same diff. I also use free colouring book pages as digital stamps. If you look in my gallery, you'll find quite a few cards there with colouring pages as the focal image. I say, if you like the image, use it and don't worry about what anyone else thinks.

I'd classify them as digital.
In fact, way before digital images boomed (I'm talking 8 or 9 years ago), I saw some fantastic tutorials on using dingbats as digital images. I have a few fonts downloaded and saved, but as I'm not really a digi person I don't use them much.

I just started making a card that I am CASEing from the SU catalog...and I am using a font called "Sweet Dings" that has cupcakes, ice cream and candy in it. I am using the cupcakes and the 1/2" punch to punch them out. Coloring them in and using glitter glue for the frosting...It's looking great and saved me...what...$15 plus shipping for the stamp set? Woohoo for wingdings!!!
