I would love to say I've always treated all my stamps with the kindness they deserve, but that would be a wicked fib.
And yet I still own 99% of the stamps I've ever bought (clear and rubber), much to the dismay of my husband - and all of them are as good as new. So thanks for posting this.
(The other 1% are just lost in the stamping closet....)
Hi, TT, thank you for taking the time to glean all that information from Tsukineko, which has to be my favourite inking company. I have loads of their product, including Stazon. I have used the ink on a variety of materials as well. I have used both rubber and photopolymer stamps, the PP being my favourites. But, I always use Versamark (another Tsukineko product) on the stamp before using the Stazon. I always clean after with their Stazon ink cleaner. They go to the trouble of making these products, so I use them. I am only an amateur in this area, mostly using my stamps for a bit of stamp art and in my scrapbooking. But in packing up today, I have about a quarter square meter of stamps (in their containers and loose). The only dirty stamps I have (i.e. nothing got them clean - ever) were ones I used with SU! black ink. Now I always use Versamark before I use SU! inks of any colour.

Because the solvent is a chemical, Tsukineko does not recommend deliberately sniffing Stazon. The almond scent is added to mask the smell of the solvent.
So that's why some of us are flyin' high . . .

I did wonder if it was an added scent or if it was a natural by-product of the chemicals in the formula. Hmmm, I wonder if they could make it smell like gingerbread or sugar cookies . . . ;)

The stamping store in London usually has it, but they are so nice when you call first, I would suggest you do that. And otherwise, many brick-and-mortar stores I have been to in Ontario, that specialize in Stamping, have Ultra Clean. You could have alot of fun looking for it...
LOL, JulieRR! I think they should make it smell like... CHOCOLATE! But if they did I would for sure be sniffing my ink pads. ;) I'm sure Louis said that they add the almond scent and that it is not a natural by-product of their manufacturing process.
Debra, Canadian stores can buy our products directly from us or they can purchase Technique Tuesday products through a couple different Canadian distributors. That means that we do not have a complete list of Canadian stores who carry Technique Tuesday products. I know that The Scrapping Bug (in Kitchener Ontario), Forever Scrapbooks (in Burlington, Ontario), and The Scrapping Turtle (in St. Jacobs, Ontario) have offered some Technique Tuesday products in their stores in the past. If any of these stores are close to you, you could call them to see if they have our cleaner in stock. If they don't, they may be willing to special order it for your. I also know that Scrapbooker's Paradise has several stores in the Calgary area plus they have an online store. It looks like they have our stamp cleaner in stock in their online store and that you might be able to get free shipping this month. Here's a link to the cleaner in their online store. So funny! "Smells" are such a subjective thing--I love the smell of Staz-On ink (smells like almond extract to me!) and other peeps look at me in horror.

Cool! I thought I was the only person who thought it smelt like almonds- as you say, people look at you as if you're mad when you say it
I know this is an old thread, but just wondering if the Ultra Clean stamp cleaner is the one by Hero Arts? And is it the same one by Hero that Gina K is selling in her store?
After a major purge I recently finished a complete re-index of my 6000+ stamps and found some interesting things. On the subject of the quality of clear stamps IMHO it doesn't seem to matter where the stamp was made or if I used StazOn because I'm seeing all kind of results. All my stamps are stored on purchased laminated sheet, in sealed boxes out of heat and sunlight.
Do any of you recall when years ago (5+) Michaels sold the $1 calendar stamps not made in the US. Every month they would release a new little se? I bought them all and have used those stamps to death, some with StazOn ink, cleaned with sensitive baby wipes, water, and even StazOn cleaner (I didn't know better) and those little stamps are still going strong. They are stained, but they are soft and supple.
I have poly stamps made from reputable companies in the US that are a little over a year old, used only Memento or VersFine ink, cleaned with sensitive stamp cleaner and if I've used them a lot, they are starting to degrade. They aren't brittle, they are getting limp and gummy. I have clear stamps never used and they are also getting gummy.
So does it really make a difference where they are made, what ink we use, or how we store them or clean them? All in all, clear stamps are frustrating.
