My first set was Girl Power in March 2003...I bought everything to CASE the card in the catalog so I could make a large tag to tie onto a craft bag for the incentives that my Brownies earned during cookie sales...it turned out really cute and I received a lot of compliments on the cards. And, as they say, the rest is history...
my first set was brushstroke alphabet, and some ink pads. it was SAB so I got watercolor minis free I thought I was saving so much money! lol!!

Flashy Florals for me! And the way I use it most often now is the background for the largest flower gets stamped in brown, trimmed, and used as a 'present' in a diaper card! How's that for thinkin' outta the box?!?!

The first workshop I attended I bought Border Builders... But the one stamp set that sucked me in was SMILE. .. and then I had to have accessories and smile some more. I am a sucker for a smiley face!!!
Branches, I don't even know what year it was. It's been discontinued for a while. My first ever stamp was a birdbath from PSX. I still like it. I was looking for a hobby that would fit in a shoebox. Now, I barely have room for my husband in the house. Good thing he's a good sport. Eileen

Toile Blossoms was my first purchase in the frenzy of a new hobby. I've used it maybe twice in the two years I've had it!

Feathered Hope, I can't believe no one else has said this!
That was my second set!

Why did she make things? Well, she enjoyed it, of course; it also somehow helped her remember who she was and where she came from.
I had seen several cards with it on another board (shhh!) and I am "well-known" to my friends for my coffee addiction ... so when I finally found a SU! rep here (remember - it was new to Canada) ... it was the first set I bought - plus I booked my own workshop during SAB.
I'm a veteran! I bought my first SU! stamps in 1997. (I'm pretty sure . . .) I don't remember exactly which was the first; all are retired now. They were Posy & Bee, Seasonal Borders No. 1, and a set of 4 (I didn't even put the name of the set on the box. There are 3 flowers and "Love Grows". I think I'll have to start using this again.) Also a DD set with a watering can and flowers - again, not sure of the name - makes a wonderful card with layers of flowers, when I have time.
And a blue ink pad, blue cards stock and blue marker. My demo told me to seal the blocks -- but I was so impatient for the clear sealer to dry that I put Frosty in the oven to speed the drying time. He's a little burnt around the edges of the wood now. But 4+ years and I still love him!
My first post here although I have been listening for a long time.
My first stamp was Happy Bear back when there were stamps
from many companies in the catalog. Don't want to remember
the year that was or the number of sets I've bought since.
Hi!
My first SU purchase was in 1994, back when you could buy foam mounted or wood mounted SU stamps as well as stamps from other companies. It was my first order and I bought the Floral Set from Personal Stamp Exchange, and then from SU I bought Flowers in Bloom, Krayola Kids, Carousel, What's Moo?, Label It, Clownin' Around, Decorator Shelf, Country Cat, Victorian Greetings (Hostess Set) and Year Round Fun. Year Round Fun is still available.
I have them all still, I don't sell them off, so needless to say my collection has taken over, LOL!!!
My first set was the now retired "All Aboard" I swore I wasn't going to get into stamping, but had to make cards for people at work, I worked on the steam trains at Walt Disney. People loved the cards I made with them and it was all downhill from there. My mom had a mini session with me to show me some of the great things I could do with the set, and that as they say is history, now about 75 sets later, I am hooked! In the beginning I used any card stock, now I only use SU, in the beginning I used any ink, now I only use SU..well you see where this is going..lol. Never hosted a party but bought plenty from my mom over the last 3 years! Thanks for all you do Mom!

It sure is fun to read about how long everyone has been stamping, their first sets, and the changes SU has gone thru over the years.
I got into stamping in June. 04. My first set was Love Without End.(used it maybe 4 times) When the new catalog came out in July I got All Wrapped Up. (thought it was something my style....have only used it to make one swap and a set sampler) Signed up to be a demo last Feb during SAB and Now my collection of stamps is up to 70!!! Yikes!
A tag set that I have no clue what the name is (I didn't think to keep the sticker with the name on it). It has an angel, snowman, santa, and a to/from stamp.
I think mine was Bold Hearts and Flowers that I got in 1995 or 1996. I finally sold it the other day. The demo showed us how to make 8 or 10 different cards and tags with just that one set. I also finally got rid of Petite Posies, Fabulous Florishes, and Marvelous Morning Glory.
