Default What would you bring?

I am going on a girls' getaway next week. Several of us are spending 5 days at a mountain cabin, and plan to do a fair bit of stamping. I look at it like a ginormous limited supply challenge :p but I'm a little stumped on what to bring. 3-4 of us will be stamping so there will be other stamp sets to use. If you were me (admit it, you wish you were!) how many stamp sets would you bring? How many colors? How much dp, embies? Definitely bringing my 'bug and all that goes with it. TIA!~

I think it would be a great idea to "touch bases" with others that are going. Maybe you could all make sure that you are bringing different stamps or stamps sets and "swap"...then you could concentrate more on actual supplies needed (cardstock, inks, etc.). Sounds like a very fun 5 days!!

Yep, I wish I were going! Have lots of FUN!
I agree that I would coordinate w/ the others & divide up what stamps, ink & some supplies to take. I suggest planning out your projects ahead & taking what you'll need to complete those projects.

Oh! That sounds like so much fun!!! I would probably pick a few projects that I want to work on including scrapbooking, cards, etc. Then I would bring a good variety of extra stuff just in case you get inspired to make something else.

Have a great time!

Default What to bring?

The last time I did that, we worried more about who was bringing the booze and the blender, the chocolate and snacks! This was in Gatlinburg where there is a ginormous LSS, so if anyhting was forgotten, we could go shopping. Hey! We did that anyway!

I actually do quite a bit of "traveling" stamping ...

When I first started stamping I bought the SU spots. They are my definite travel companions.

I also bought from CTMH their accessory (embelishment) holder. This thing is great. I use one side for brads and (very few) eyelets and the other for basic ribbon.

I have also recently bought the EZ Pull ribbon holder. It holds a ton of ribbon and is completely portable.

So, when I go to stamping getaways I usually take:

1. My $20.00 tote from Michaels with all my basic tools (cutter, scissors, etc)
2. My spots (and a small asst of other inks ... stazon, etc.)
3. MY CTMH holder and now maybe my ribbon holder
4. One file box that will hold an asst of paper (CS, DS and whatever else
I may toss in). I usually put the accessory holder and spots in this box,
too.
5. One "luggage" type tote with handle with stamps and misc. stuff.

Oh, that's SO already been decided

Love the ideas. My main challenge is colors. I think I just need to pick a few color combos and bring embies and dp that match.

Thanks for your input! Keep it comin'!

I just want to chime in to say... Make sure you bring enough ADHESIVE!

If you run out...that could ruin your weekend

Bring more supplies than you think you will need. My first get away stamping weekend I did not bring along enough projects or embellishments. Like some of the earlier replies I would definately coordinate the supplies everyone is bringing. We have one girl bring all of her stamp pads and markers (she owns every color), we also coordinate who's bringing what punches, embossing gun, etc. If room allows bring a huge suitcase full of stamp sets - you'll need lots of variety for 5 days!!! I also bring a tote full of as much paper in as many colors as I can fit in it - again it is nice having variety. The adhesive suggestion was great - you will definately need a lot!

I would also have some projects in mind. I'm going away for a weekend in a few weeks again and I have scrapbooking ideas and the pictures ready and I even designed two Christmas cards for this year already so I can begin working on them in case I run out of other things to do. You are so lucky to have 5 days - I only have 3 days and believe me, I make the most of this valuable time.

Have fun!

Don't forget the basics like scissors and stamp cleaner! Think of some of the basics you use most often... ruler, adhesive, pop-dots, bone folder, etc.

Have fun!

It sounds like fun.
I went away this spring to a get away with friends. I flew in to the city where I was going...so alot of supplies (cutters, ink pads etc the others brought)
Here is what I have done on various get togethers:
I would bring already "prepared" card kits. Everything ready except the coloring of the images. That is what I did, colored in images and glued everything together.I had all the paper cut and the embellishments counted out. I was making thank you cards and was staying with the basic card.
For my getaway in the city this is what I brought:
_ dp paper and coordinating cardstock with coordinating embellishments
_lots of white card stock for stamping images from others stamp sets
_ adhesive and extra rolls ( I have the ATG gun)
_some stamp sets...but I ended up not using them
_I forgot my cleaner and scrub pad...I was always borrowing others so I would bring that
_some idea magazines and some card layouts I wanted to try
_favorite candy

When I go again this summer...I plan to bring more prepared card kits..I tend to talk and so trying to come up with ideas while talking....is not easy for me.
Lots of stamped images to just color in to bring home to make cards with later.
Have fun!!

I've been traveling Mon to Fri, then home on the weekend. I have found that I do better with particular cards in mind before I leave. I take extra white and vanilla cardstock. I'll pick a few from the gallery that I've always wanted to make, but felt it would take too much time to learn--like a waterfall card, dahlia card, etc. I've learned a lot of new techniques this way. Have fun!

Lucky you, Lisa! When I go to my sister's for the weekend (your five days is much longer, however) we usually decide on a theme -- Christmas, birthday, whatever -- and bring stamps that would work. The suggestion about learning a new technique sounds intriguing. Maybe each person could demonstrate a different technique to the rest of you. That might be fun. I usually bring way more than what I'll need, but better too much than not enough -- unless there is a LSS close by. Have a ball!

You can start packing your stamping bag now. Every time you need something to stamp, cut, color or punch with, throw it in your bag. Then you will be using out of your bag between now and then. Chances are that if you need it before you go, you'll need it while you are gone.

Oh, and what about embossing powders and guns? Or glitters and brads! Come to think of it, can you just take everything?!

A friend and I did this last summer. We decided on two themes for our cards and each brought stamp sets to go with the themes. They were all different so we got a bunch more cards out of whaat we brought by using elements out of different sets with other set elements. We both brought plenty of CS, PP and adhesive (several kinds). I also took a book of "motion" cards. We tried new card designs and sizes.
I also travel with my SU Spots. Such convienence! I also now bring my watercolor crayons. I just don't let them stay in a hot car. I have actually carried them into a restaurant (in a bag of course) to make sure they didn't melt.
I also make sure I have a cutting mat and my craft knife, my small trimmer, scissors, bone folder, versamark pad and pen, adhesive remover square, mechanical pencil, white eraser, and ruler.
I have a case with my embellies and I bring ribbon to match or contrast with the CS I bring.
It sounds like a lot but it all fit in my Crop in Style wheeled tote plus a briefcase.

Have a great time. If you scrapbook too, take oodles of pictures.

I would bring a mix of colors, like if it was SU colors a couple sheets of each color and then a pack of white. Any and all adhesives you use. Colored inks, then different black inks for watercoloring or coloring with markers. And and distressing inks. Sponges, distress tool, paper piercer, punches and ribbon, brads, eyelets, cropadile.

I personally would bring flowers, primas or anything that doesnt need to be attached to the card at that time. Then you save some space by not packing it and when you repack everything you make the flowers wont get smooshed.

And I'd check with everyone going who is bringing what stamp sets so you can all bring the most selection!

Have fun!

Oh yes, cute and comfy jammies and a copy of Dirty Dancing or Legends of the Fall..................whats a girls weekend without those movies?

I tend to not get much done with friends. I talk to much and lend out my supplies to my beginner stamping friends. So if I was going, I would pack a few extra bottles of whatever you will be drinking!!! Just my opinion! I love cosmopolitians so I would have to take 3 bottles and a lot of lime!!!

Have a great time and post pics for us who won't be there!

I would defintely bring my own basic supplies like scissors, adhesive, black ink pad, etc. You can borrow, yes, but some stuff gets used so much that it is a pain to wait until the other person isn't using it to borrow it. I would coordinate with the other gals so there is no duplication in stamp sets. I'd also do this with bigger supplies. You said you are bringing your Cuttlebug. Someone else can bring their Cropodile or Big Bite, another their heat gun, someone else a paper cutter, etc. You don't want to be exhausted hauling everything you own! Also, if you don't already do it for classes, you might want to put your initials somewhre on your things. Not that your friends are dishonest, but things can just get jumbled up if you share and end up packed up in somebody's stuff by accident.
