I dislike the salmon/coral shades, and really dislike pinks! Not too keen on pastels, either- I like rich vibrant colours, and adore black, deep purple/green/blue/rich reds & burgundys.
I do not like bright primary yellow, although I love softer yellows and golds. Mint Melody was one of the worst colors ever. Years ago, SU made an inspiration sheet using Mint Melody, Pale Plum and Perfect Plum. It actually made me feel ill to look at it. Yuck!
I despise yellow! Wouldn't be caught dead in it! LOL I do however like some SU yellows such as More mustard and use that a lot, especially in the Fall. I ordered most of the SU new colors and found out afterwards that I really don't like Baha Breeze. It's just a washed out blue. Yech!
I love earth tones, and the more muted colors. Not a fan of teal, mint green, peach, most of the pastel colors. But I am very "allergic" to purple. Just have never been a fan of the grape color. I like eggplant, more plummy colors, but purple...meh.
Dark colours, for some reason I just can't use them, I always feel like they are looking off. Bright colours work great, I can handle pastels, but dark colours are used so rarely at my house it's kind of funny.
I like them, but when it comes to using them I just can't make them look right, it always looks off to me, even if I'm CASEing someones card with the same colours.
I think I'm in the minority here (because I see it all over in the gallery), but I really don't like kraft. I tend to use more white in my cards. I just can't get kraft to work for me.
I don't like the primary colors or super bright colors. For example, I hate pixie pink, but am very fond of Melon Mambo. It's the day-glo factor I think--I hate anything that resembles fluorescent, lol. I didn't care for any of the old Bold Brights, except for real red.
Also, not a fan of the new Soft Suede. I much prefer the old Close to Cocoa. The soft suede has an icky greenish undertone to it that I just can't seem to get used to.
I hate the new Concord Grape (not sure if that's the name of it) in stampin up's new lineup. And I don't like any teal either.
hehe, I loooove purple, any shade and love the salmon, peachy colors.
I am most attracted to pastels, they soothe me. MY garden is shades of purple ,burgandy and peach.
I DON'T do Red. Nothing red in my house. Oh, I have to force myself to use that color and it never comes out right.
Black and white combo, bleegh, boring, and it always reminds me of bathroom floors. I think it's probably the only thing I'll ignore in a gallery)
I really don't like primary colors or most dark colors. I only use them mostly as accents(did I say that right?) I only use neon to highlight my textbooks.
Still, I may not like these colors but I can appreciate the loveliness when someone else creates with them. Well, except for the black and white bathroom floor thing....and that's just a personal issue...lol
If it is blu-ish red, forget about it. Reading through these replies made me realize that if all the colors that people are allergic to were removed from our color palettes, we would not have any colors left to use. Thankfully, we can pick and use whatever makes each of us happy. One thing that I have found myself doing is picking a color and adding tones of that color, either lighter or darker, as accent colors - a sort of monochromatic color scheme. The project always comes out looking more professional.
SU's Soft Suede, it looks like baby poop to me. Hate it!!
Pamela
I agree with you 100%!! People use it on their cards and it looks lovely, but if I pull out a sheet I usually just think of the last poopie diaper I changed and I am then pathologically incapable of using it.
Other colors I'm allergic to... probably River Rock, I just can't tell what color it wants to be. The old Bold Brights colors - especially Yo Yo Yellow. I absolutely LOVE purple in nearly any form especially Elegant Eggplant and Lavender Lace... Actually, besides the colors I already mentioned I try not to discriminate against any colors. I hate to hurt "anyone's" feelings. ;)
Hate pink. All pinks. Don't wear them, don't use the pink highlighter that comes in the multi pack. But I do use them in cards and scrapbooking, mainly the brighter pinks, like hot pink. I make a lot of cards to sell, so I had to get over my haterad of pink and I like working with it now, still don't like pink but can create with it. I scrapbook with it, since my niece loves pink and that color works for her.
All blues are my favorite colors, especially the darker blues. My car is blue. I waited an extra week to get it since I had to have it in blue. The dealer thought I was crazy. But I don't like teal. Selling PartyLite years ago, was hard for me, as all their boxes and stuff is teal.
I'm not a fan of orange, but love to create with it. Won't wear it, but will decorate with orange for fall. I made halloween cards last year and I couldn't get enough orange and dark purple.
Which, by the way,I kinda agree with! If I was not a demo, I would probably not use it so much...but my club LOVES it! My hubby loves it too, so many of the cards I have made for him include it. River Rock has a similar icky greenish hue, so the 2 icky colors work well together
I'm getting used to them
I hated crushed curry and dusty durango...and will be using the last sheets of card stock soon just to get them out of the way. ;)
That leads me to my biggest color aversion...orange. I rarely use it, and 9 times out of 10 it is for a color challenge. With the exception of the fabulous new cajun craze, I could live without shades of orange. I have barely touched peach parfait...tangerine tango is neglected...and pumpkin pie is only appreciated when it coordinates with my DSP!
Give me deep, saturated, lush colors...oh, and baja breeze!

I detest orange. Any shade. I am also not fond of green, though it's grown on me and I can handle it in small doses. I loooove pink, blue, purple, red, yellow, turquoise, pastels, and the rest of the colors are okay, except orange. Bllleeeechhh!
I'm allergic to anything in the peach, salmon, coral family - and I can only rarely use orange. I also hate flourescent colours so green has to be a natural green, pink has to be a muted or old rose type of pink, etc.
Give me blue any day - I love it! And I adore traditional Christmas colours - attempting to make a purple Christmas card for example would be impossible for me.

I lean towards the warmer colors -- red, orange, yellow. However, as I've gotten older, I find I'm really liking the purples and blues. i've always like the calming effect that browns have.
I really don't like and don't use the muddied colors -- The ones that look like brown got thrown in. They seem so sad to me.
Bright colors are fun but in the spring I gravitate towards the paler colors -- lilac, light green, etc. They seem to be newly hatched colors to me.
I love the brights in the summer -- happy, happy colors.
In the fall, I use the fall colors -- more muted, the oranges, browns, etc. They seem more mature and quieter.
For Christmas, I go with the darker reds and greens but have loved the darker blues with white for the past two years. The dark blue sky and white snow -- love that combo.
Colors have to "speak" to me. They need to be more on the happy side than the sad side. Black is used as a contrast to highlight white or a happy color.
I think it's fascinating how some colors make people want to upchuck. I think one of the most violent-reaction colors is orange. And, of course, that's one of my favorites. LOL
Forest and hunter green. I don't think I've EVER used those colours! I also dislike all pale/washed-out colours like peach, mint green, beige, lavender.. It's like, BE BOLD, BE A COLOUR or get out of here!!! It's weird. I never thought about it before but that's exactly like my personality. hmm.....
It's funny, there are a couple people that are fairly well-known card makers on here that just use pale colours and I don't fancy their creations very much. I just put 2+2 together why... Thanks for giving me something to think about! ;)

The colors that I like the least are purples, and bright orange. The only purples I have ever liked to work with are Almost Amethyst and Concord Crush, both of which are blue-ish purples. That old Marvelous Magenta SU used to carry literally make me feel ill!
Any of the bright or grey-ish oranges I dislike - only one I really ever use is Pumpkin Pie, and that is only in the fall.
My favorite color is probably green, with the exception of the old Mint Melody and the old Forest Foliage which was then replaced with the horrible Handsome Hunter - these shades of green are the most un-natural shades! Yuck. Fun thread : )

I must say I love, love, love all color. There are some favorites, of course, but as I read through the "dislikes," I conjured up in my head the color and got excited about using it--ALL of them! Neutrals are always the base, but most often, I think it is how colors are combined and the amounts used. Colors thrill me. I am so in the minority here, but I adore Soft Suede and River Rock. Stocked up on both as their time as In Colors was ending and am thrilled to have them as core colors. Don't use much Pacific Point, but it has it's place in small amounts. Couldn't limit my choices as was suggested in an earlier thread. I say, bring on the colors--all of them!!!

I live in the Cascade Mountains of the Pacific Northwest, and see these colors out my windows year round (except after a particularly heavy snowfall when all is white). Couldn't stamp without a dark/hunter/forest green. Sorry to see them go.
great discussion! I'm not allergic to any colors -- however mint and forest green are probably my least faves. some yellows are terrific, others grate on my nerves. I guess it just depends.
and if you saw my ribbons you would think I was addicted to pink. I guess I better do something with all these pink ribbons!

Wow, this is really intriguing! I have a hard time with combining really bright colors. SU's YoYo yellow and Only Orange remain virtually untouched in my craft room. Another couple I can't seem to love are Tangerine Tango and Pacific Point! However, I find that I can use most any color if I pair it with enough white!
When I looked at my card stock, I realized that I have never re-ordered most yellows and oranges. Most are still in the original packaging. I don't "hate" them, I'm just not attracted to those colors for the most part except in fall or small doses. Other little used ones are Bravo Burgundy and all of this year's "In Colors".
I REALLY miss the purples!
I absolutely hate super bright yellow, fuchsia, orange, green and blue: think Crayola 8 pack! Or fluourescents: Gag me with a spoon! I'm also allergic to drab yellows and oranges like mustard and rust. I'm not big on grey or black as they are just too stark and cold. A few people mentioned orchid opulence and lavender lace: ick, funny though, I like amethyst because it matches well with quite a few blues found in various baby boy DPs. I love chocolate, pinks all pastels except peach and mint. And kraft, love it!
That being said, I can use small amounts of colours I don't like if they match patterned paper I do like. For example, I have an old pack of DP with a western theme and even though it includes rust, I can use it because it matches. Cosmo Cricket Earth Love paper has guava in it and i can use that just fine! I really can't use the brightest yellows or oranges though maybe except a carrot nose for a snowman!

The only thing that Only Orange is good for (imo) is a snowman's carrot nose!
I use it a lot for the many Halloween cards I make and sometimes for fall and Thanksgiving cards. There are colors I wouldn't wear (orange, yellows, peaches), but I'm thrilled that I can craft with them and enjoy them that way!
