It's a frog. Florists use them at the bottom of flower arrangements to anchor the flower stems to the bottom of the vase. Look for them where floral supplies are sold.
Technical name for these lovely little thingees is Flower Frogs. Thought I would add that in case you do a web search for them.
As said earlier, they are readily available at nearly every second-hand store, collectibles market and many yard sales. Price is based on where you find them - yard sale price is 25 cents to $1, second hand store twice that price and collectibles store anybody's guess! ;) Good luck finding your frog. They are much fun to use!
As you've seen, you can use them to hold cards upright while you photograph them, you can also use them to hold image panels that you've made that haven't yet been added to a card, much like an old-fashioned letter holder. And, obviously, you can use them in a floral arrangement to hold the stems in place! Other than that I can't think of how they can be used, other than as a paper weight.

it also looks like it might be a good rump scratcher for my pup's winter skin. (j/k) just wanted to make sure there wasn't something obvious I had missed.

I remember my mom putting a ring of putty around the bottom of the frog's base and sticking it in place in the bottom of a bowl or vase when she used it for floral arrangements.
I found one at Michael's, brought it home, opened it up, and out of mild curiosity I read the instructions on the back of the packaging. Much to my surprise the last line at the bottom said that it contained cancer causing something, something....I don't remember...I think it was lead......with instructions to therefore wash your hands after use!!!!! I couldn't believe it....I took it back to Michael's and they took it back, no problem.

...sure its got a catchy beat, but can you stamp to it?
life is something that happens only when you run out of cardstock
Great idea for holding cards. Now I have a REASON for my collection of all kinds of antique flower frogs. You may be suprised at the different types that are out there. If I could only grow some great flowers, I'd two uses for the frogs!
I have not found these (flower frogs) easy to find or inexpensive! I have found them in antique stores for $7 - $15 each. I'm always looking for new, fun ways to display cards. Does anyone else have any other ideas?
