I have been searching the forum, but haven't run across this yet...
For those who use binders ... if I want to put them in clear protective sheet, what do I attach them to to put them in the page protector? Laminate a sheet with the stamped images on it maybe, or is there something easier?
I bought the clear vinyl today and I am ready to get started. I plan to start with an alpha set.
Here is what I am planning on doing, please tell me if I am wrong or missing a step:
1) cut my stamps down to size
2) mount on vinyl
3) cut vinyl down to size
4) place on whatever I plan to put in page protector
With unmounting
1) heat in the microwave 8+ secs
2) take off wood block
3) mount like above
What am I missing ladies!
I got half a yard of vinyl for 50 cents at Walmart!

Sorry - I must admit that I don't understand what you use the vinyl for. Here is how I store my unmounted stamps. I take an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of white cardstock. I stamp some images on it. I slide the stamped cardstock INTO the page protector. It is now on the INSIDE. Using the stamped images that I can see through the page protector as a guide, I mount my rubber stamps directly onto the OUTSIDE of the page protector. I stagger the stamps so that I can see the STAMPED image that's on the INSIDE.
Could you follow that?
I coat my unmounted stamps with Aleene's Tack it Over And Over and let them dry several hours before I mount them on the protector sheets. When I want to use a stamp, I peel it off the outside of the protector sheet and mount it on my acrylic block. When I am ready to put it away, I find the stamped image to show me what page it goes on, then I stick it back onto the page protector near its stamped image.
I have used vinyl along with some Fun Foam for mounting my unmounted stamps
I have now taken the vinyl and fun foam off all those stamps. Because it doesn't stay clingy after awhile..I NOW use Ez-Mount Foam for all my Current Stamps!
I do like the TIO glue as well. But I do not use it unless I have the foam for it!
.
I myself like using CD cases. I label the end of them with name of the stamp. and #, And I also stamp the image on a piece of paper and then insert that into the CD case. This way I can see what I have without having to look somewhere else.
I store most of my unmounted stamps in binders. I stamp on cardstock and slide that and some chipboard into the page protector. The stamps go on the outside of the page protector. I use the cardboard because the stamps don't seem to get knocked off if the page doesn't give.
I've tried the vinyl in the past, but it lost it's cling after several months. I now use the EZmount foam. It's great.

I haven't used Vinyl, I use EZ Mount. But I do not cut the stamps down to size first. It is much easier to lay the unmounted rubber on the EZ Mount (vinyl) and only cut to size one time. HTH

Yea, I'd go with the EZ mount over the vinyl. It may have been cheap, but you get what you pay for! All my UM are on EZ mount and they are stored in CD cases.
I too would avoid the vinyl. But if you really want to use the vinyl, I recommend doing ONE stamp first and try it out. I guess I'm concerned if it will actually "cling" to your block.
I love, love, love EZ mount. Tried cheaper ways, and went right back to it. I do use Tack It Over on "old" stamps that I'm redoing. I like it, but, as I said, I love the EZ mount. I would recommend this over the vinyl.
Good luck and let us know if the vinyl works. If it doesn't, place it over heavy cardstock and use that as your storage boards.

Hi Andi...
I think you are starting with the right steps for storing your unmounted stamps. I have hundreds and have tried a lot of methods.

Some of my stamps have vinyl cling on the back (not every kind of vinyl clings really well).
Some still have the *really* strong adhesive that they came with (I keep tapping them on my old jeans or sweatshirt to make them less sticky).
Like blueheron, I do use Aleene's Tack-it-over and Over on a lot of my stamps. It works great on the acrylic blocks. BUT, I find that it does not always keep the stamps on the *outside* of a page protector.
So, I do stamp a sheet of cardstock (get it by the ream at Paperzone or OfficeMax) to put in the page proctector so that I know where the stamps belong -- sort of! Then I just slip all of the stamps for that page into the protector. The ones with vinyl do tend to slip down to the bottom, but I figure that's better than sliding out of the binder and onto the floor.
Also while stamping on the sheet of cardstock, I stamp a duplicate copy on plain white paper. I number the pages(both the CS and the copypaper), then 3-hole punch the copy paper sheets and put them into a separate notebook. That notebook is divided with tabs that match my 7 (soon to be 8 ) rubber filled binders: A-D, E-M, N-Z, Bible Verses, Flowers, Christmas, Words.
Have fun with your stamps and all the free advice you are gathering.
I guess that was the biggest thing that bothered me about ez mount. Taking the foam off the stamps that is already on there, and then putting foam right back on with ez mount.
I took one of my acrylic blocks with me and tested each thickness of vinyl. The thinnest one really sticks the best. I think at Joanne's they only have two thicknesses, and at Walmart there was a thinner one.
Where do you get vinyl made for stamps?
Thanks everyone for your help so far.

I ordered from Creative Mode

last month when they had a special.
edited to add: They call it Remountable Tape (Cling)
So far the cling has worked for me. It sticks to the acrylic block and many plastic surfaces with no problem. I hope that it will stand the test of time. I hate the idea of redoing them. Maybe someone else will have other sites for you to check out.

My stamps are stored just like Blueheron. I am waiting for some storage boards I ordered online since some of the bigger stamps kinda sag on the page protector. Many of my stamps have no backing at all. I do stamp on a big yellow mat from Rubber Stampede I got at Michaels.

I'm not sure if this has been posted but my TAC demo told me to put my unmounted stamps on a sheet of glossy cardstock and slide that into a page protector. They cling to the glossy cardstock and they are protected by the page protectors.
If I'm really lazy and haven't cut and mounted my stamps yet, I slap a couple pieces of double sided tape to my mount, attach the stamp to that and stamp away. When its no longer sticky, I just peel off and add more tape. I've been doing this more and more lately.
