Question Stamping on fabric?

Hi All!

I am trying to dabble into stamping on clothing for my niece who is 5 months old and I want to make shoes and hats to match some of her outfits. I just tried the SU craft pads to stamp on a bucket hat for her. I am waiting for it to dry a day or so and then thought I would put it into the dryer to set it. Do these inks wash well on fabrics? Do you use anything else for fabric stamping? Any and all suggestions and advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much in advance!

Carla from Kansas

I use acrylic paints mixed with textile or fabric medium. The medium keeps the paint sofr. I've never tried stamp pads.

I have stamped images on fabrics using both the craft ink and fabric paints. The tips I can offer on the craft ink are you need to hold the stamp in place for about 30 secs. to really let the "ink" get into the fabric. Also, heat set with a dry iron for a minute to set. Honestly, I prefer using this paint I found that has a "matte" brushed-looking finish (I think it was made by "deco", but dont quote me),--I just use a sponge paint brush to brush the paint onto the stamp, and stamp onto the fabric--no waiting or anything. Just air dry, heat set with iron and your ready to go.

I did also notice that the craft ink will fade on the fabric over time, even with heat setting. HTH!

I just used Craft ink on a shirt that my daughter and I made for Daddy for fathers day!

1. Just make sure the craft ink pad is well inked, and hold stamp in place to allow the ink to absorb from the stamp.
2. After all stamped let dry an hour or so, even next day is fine.
3. Then heat set with Iron, I even used my embossing heat tool, and it worked fine.
4. Then let it dry for 2-3 days.
5. Soak it in a vinegar solution 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water, for 1/2 and hour.
6. And then finally wash/dry on low heat.

Mine didnt run at all, and it looks great. We had fun making it, and she said it made daddy "SOO Happy!!" (shes 2 1/2)
I liked using the craft inks, cuz I didnt want my stamps to get all dirty with acrylic paints. I am just so protective of my precious stamps!!

Well good luck & let me know if you have any questions.
