I was perusing webshots and found a bunch of my artwork ( along with lots of others....juliehrr, mamakimberly, jennbalcer - just to name a few...) in someone else's webshots gallery. No mention of where she got it from, I know she must have gotten the photos from here because I don't share my stuff anywhere else. I was never asked by this person and it irks me to find my stuff ( and others ) on there without my permission and no credit given either.
This would bother me too!! If you are going to put in on your web site it should be your own work and if not, the person should get permission to post it.
Emily - that is not only nervy, but kind of creepy too!
Please keep us updated! Is there anyone you can report her to??
Beautiful card by the way. . . .

I am flattered that she wanted to put it on there, but irritated at not being asked. I like to know where my work is showing up, ya know? I will talk to Sharon, thanks Shanon!

maybe she thiinks it's OK to do because she lists on the left side in her profile:
"Hi, I’m R*****! I’m addicted to rubber stamping and also an independent demonstrator with Stampin’ Up!. Enjoy the samples shared here, created by many talented stampers. Artwork (C) Stampin' Up!"
I copied that directly from the webshots page... still doesn't make it ok to do. As far as her demo site goes, I thought I read somewhere that SU lets you use pics that you get off their website for your own personal websites. Maybe she just took it too far and included SCS in that as well.....

I jsut checked her SU website. She is using other peoples cards but giving credit for them there. Click on the thumbnails and the larger image shows the person who made the card... at least she was "kind" enough to do that!
Kinda weird she doesn't use her own artwork to show what SHE can teach you as a demo. That being said, I like to give the benefit of the doubt and maybe she doesn't know it's a no-no? Since her phone and contact info are listed, just ring her up!

Emily -- This is a different chick than the one that was using mine (who was also in AZ). Still, not cool. If I were you, I'd try email her and asking her to remove your stuff from her Webshots or you'll report her. More than likely, that'll scare her enough. When I was poking around Webshots earlier, I noticed some of Jenn's stuff but just wondered if they were cards sent for swaps -- ??
My bad Sharon. I figured it was the same girl since she was from AZ. Sorry to drag you into this :(

I just looked at that sample on her site and this is what it says:
Mixed Bouquet
by inkinallnight
So, according to that site SHE made the card! Hum.....

Oh dear, this happened to me a few years ago. What they do is go to your web site or gallery then copy and paste what ever they wish to their own sites.
I requested that this be stopped and it started a huge bunch of neg. chatter. I requested that these folks please ask for permission to use my art work and it did help. My concern was that everyones sites were all beginning to look the same with all the same artwork. I wanted my site to be different so that folks visiting would see new and fresh designs. I finally gave up and stopped posting new art to my site. I'm all for sharing, but this goes beyond the limit.

Holy cow! I think it's art theft. You just don't go into a showroom gallery and walk out with a painting and hang it in your own office do ya?? And then have the nerve to put your name underneath as artist?!
Now I see why some gallery uploaders are putting their SU copyright and name directly on their image before uploading. What does SCS say about it?
If she refuses we should all click on the button at the bottom of her webpage and report her! We'll bombard Webshots.
I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt, but if she has actually claimed SHE created a card when clearly one of our girls did, that's an absolute fraud and I'd report her to SU! as well.

I'm going to sleep on this and email her in the morning.
And if you look through the rest of her gallery you will find another one of your's Michelle, along with Julie E.
I did notice that she has some listed like this.
Stamp Artist: name and then her name. and others just listed as her name as the artist.
Judging by what she has stolen she's got great taste, many of these cards are in my favorites. Probably little consolation given the circumstance, but you do great work.

Actually, I think we're all 'supposed' to put the copyright info on the images, I myself am in violation, I've been too lazy to do it, but I think I will be from now on, not that I think anyone is going to 'steal' any of my work, ha ha ha.
Sorry girls, it stinks when you feel taken advantage of! I hope you are satisfied with the end result, whatever it may be!

Out of curiousity, how does one put their copyright information directly over the card (to avoid this)? I've just been placing a hand stamped by Linda Nicholson (stamp from SU) underneath my artwork (I've only just started uploading to the site as we just got a scanner so I'm a little behind the times).
Sorry this has happened to all of you. I have many of your cards saved in my faves and have gained lots of inspiration from them. I would never claim them as my own however. That's just wrong!
When you are looking at an image, down on the bottom of the page it will say something about reporting a violation. Wonder if that would work?
Yikes, Emily. So, how do you go about putting your name over your work when you post it to your gallery? Not that my art is anything grand, but I would like credit given or if it is CASE'd then credit given to the org. artist.
Linda, looks like we posted at the same time and have the same question!
My question...why doesn't she just post a link to SCS galleries. I mean, really, all the ideas are here and her customers could cruise to their hearts delight. I know I have found so many great ideas on sets that I wouldn't have otherwise bought! It would save her a lot of work...no copy/paste/seach! LOL!

Another girl did the same thing (re-using pics on her website without permission or giving credit) a few years back and that is when I started adding the copyright to my pics. It still doesn't force them to get permission, but at least you get credit where credit is due if your picture is re-used.
I wish I could help you get the copyright digitally on your card... I am very technologically dense so I've only got it figured out on my little program - Picture It! 7 - so if you've got that program, I can help you! Unfortunately, if your info is just beneath the card, it could be cropped out of the picture if someone really is trying to reuse the picture of your card without giving you credit.
On another topic... it's waaaaay out of line to use a DD picture as that is available as a thank you to Fan Club members only.

Geez- it is just plain rude to do that- not to mention dishonest if she is passing them on as her own- OR even making it seem like "hey I taught them this- yes it is not mine but look What I can show you" (if that makes sense)
How hard is it to PM a person and ask permission to use their pic??

I would be willing to create .png images with the SU copyright info. All you have to do then is copy and paste the image over top of your scanned card or artwork. It's clear and will not interfere with the look of your card. If you want one with your name, please PM me. Here's the blank one for everyone to use!
You'll need an imaging program like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro etc... Basically you just copy this image and paste it as a new layer over your scanned card.
I'm looking into an easier way for those who do not have those programs. Other than what someone else suggested about using vellum, or printing the info on a transparency and then scanning your cards.
Most photo editing software that I have used will allow you to 'add text' to the image. Use that feature with a clear or transparent background.
If you still want to keep it low-tech, I suppose you could print the information on a piece of vellum to lay over the card or scrapbook layout before you scanned or took the photo.
Thank you for all the tips. I have been in contact with her and she has agreed to remove my items from her site. SHe said that some were submitted as swaps and some could be CASE'd from my stuff and submitted as swaps. She said if it was a CASE, she can show me the one she has to prove it. So I am fine as long as she removes the ones that are mine. I will also be putting the copyright stuf on my things from now on.
