A few days ago there was a thread here about a certain seller (or two) who have the summer mini items listed on Ebay and claim to have them "in hand". Well, being the nosey girl I am, I had to check it out. I found the auctions and had chose to "watch" them. Not because I intended to bid on them, but because I was kind of curious to see how high they would get bid up by people too impatient to wait for the darn catalog!!
WELL!! I was looking through my watched items just now, and those auctions that I had been watching ARE GONE! DELETED! Never happened! Ebay removed them! ....But, then I did a search for "stampin up monkey" and noticed she re-listed them today. I searched "completed auctions" and they are no where to be found, so I know for sure Ebay pulled them. I just thought it was interesting and thought I would share!
I just have one kind of strange ? Is this person who is doing this on this site as a troll or something? Makes you wonder. I'm not that person...don't think that. I just don't understand why someone would go to that extreme to post it. It's a little more than a month for crying out loud...there are bigger fish to fry in this world (war, starving children, people slaying their kids, etc). Geeze.
Edited to add...I now see that this person does not have on her site that she is NOT a demo. I saw those words on this person's or the other person's a few days ago when that other thread was going around. This person has to be a demo...she is advertising a free inspiration sheet and those are only available to demos, aren't they? I know that I can't buy them as a customer.

Actually some demos give their inspiration sheets away as hostess gifts. I know that I have a couple that I've received from demos in the past.

Inspiration sheets are SUPPOSED to be free. That is why stampin up made them. They are to be used as an incentive free gift, either as a gift for booking a workshop or as a gift with purchase. I use them in my workshop and center my entire workshops around the sheet (not that I do many). I think they are great for showing how versitile a single stamp set can be.
As for pulling the sales, GREAT. I think that shows that ebay does have some sense of what is appropriate and is attempting to control illegal activity. However, ebay is HUGE. I'm sure that keeping up with illegal activity is awfully hard with so many millions of sales going on every day.

I reported her for using copyrighted photos (many others did too I'm sure) and citing ebay's own policies and now she has no photos listed. That's an accomplishment unto itself!

Today I went to check my email and I found this message in my email box.
Telling me I should relay this message to the SCS board.
It also had a email address that I could not resend to. So therefore they made up a phony email address along with a phony name to go with it.
"This is what your Guest had to say: Please relay this message to the SCS board. The woman they shut down on e-bay is a handicapped single woman. This is her only source of income. She was homeless until 2 years again. By shutting her down you will put this woman back to the streets and starving. Sometimes the kind thing to do is to look the other way. The women on that site have no idea how their rabidness affects the lives of others.'
I have now edited my guestbook so *Only* I can see it. I don't others seeing what someone else has written.
Please if you are going to write to me Please PM me!
Don't leave junk in my guestbook, That's not what it for anyway.
I have removed my Picturetrail site address from my signature Because of this.
I have no idea why? I got this email, Because I didn't say anything bad about this women other than I had read all 42 pages of her FB.
so sorry that this kind of thing happened to you! some people have no manners!! seriously, if ebay is her only income, she needs to pick a different product!!

Nancy B: That doesn't sound right to me! How does one go from handicapped and homeless in the street to selling on ebay?? hmmm... I know it at least takes a pc, some type of scanner to get the photos on there, payment methods/verified accounts to pay for ebay fees... Thngs that make you go hmmmm.....Copyright law is Copyright law. Hey, I volunteer for a charity, I tithe and donate at my church, I help out where needed, I give to disaster funds etc...my conscience is clear!(for reporting her violation)

I don't think that's what she was trying to say! :p
Mschoener posted earlier that if selling SU! stuff on eBay in violation of SU! rules concerning online sales, was her only income source, then she needed to find another one! The post you are referring to (Stampin Wrose's) seems to be saying that everyone must obey the law -- nothing there about homeless people selling on eBay! LOL

I was referring to the email sent to Nancy B. which stated to tell all of the scs'ers who reported the woman on ebay that she was homeless and handicapped and might become so again. Not sure what you are telling me
Actually, I think she meant that this woman who was supposedly handicapped and homeless two years ago, is now selling (tons of stuff) on eBay but since we rabid SCSers shut her down, she'll be out on the street again.
And that this seemed unlikely since the person would have to have all these things to be selling on eBay. Scanner, PC, credit, etc.
I also consider myself charitable, and "looking the other way" when it hurts other people (legitimate demos) or breaks laws (copyrights) isn't an option to me. Some demo is making a ton of money and going on SU! cruises and if they are letting some formerly homeless and handicapped person be their front, I'm sorry, it's still wrong.

Yes. That's what I was trying to say, sorry to be unclear. As stated earlier - I did reprt her violation of not only SU!'s copyright law, but ebays as well...

If she chose another law to break to make a living should we turn our heads away then too?
Say she were breaking a law about printing money or shoplifting, you could say that 'nobody' gets hurt with those either, but in the end we all take the hit for those crimes too, just like in this case.
This may offend some people ~ if it does I am truly sorry.
I really don't know what to say ~ except that I am appalled that the offender of Stampin Up!'s policy would use the fact that she is handicapped to make the members of SplitCoastStampers feel sorry for her. I too am handicapped, (paralyzed on my right side from a bone marrow transplant followed by a stroke) and there are certainly other ways to have income than by BREAKING THE LAW advertising stamp sets that are not even available to the general public yet. I do not have it great, but I am thankful for everything that I do have (especially you SCS'ers). This is totally inexcusable regardless of her handicap. I do feel compassion towards her because she is handicapped and has found a way to pull herself out of homelessness and make something of herself, but I am sure that there are other ways.
Aww, thanks. Yesterday my avatar was the same except it was a dollar bill she was holding - she digitally changed the picture and emailed it to me that way today. Silly daughter.

Note-someone else in this forum about this subject posted in a different thread that this ebay store has been in business for 5 years. So that means she was doing business for 3 years while living on the streets??? Hmmmmmmm
Something is just not right here about the homeless claim.

I am officially off of my soapbox!!! :-)
Doesn't offend me either!!! I totally agree with everything you said!!
If she's so close to poverty that 1 ebay sale is the difference between having a home or not, how did she get the $ to buy the mini sets in the first place? It's not like demos get mini sets for free. She had to have the $ up front. Perhaps she should have put that $ toward her rent. Nice sob story too. I'm not sure it could be any more pathetic!

Come on! How much do we really know for sure about this person? Is she even a real person or is someone using this story to cover up the CRIME they are committing. I have a friend whose husband does have a store on E-bay and it is not for the homeless. You need a lot of equipment to really sell and make money doing it.

Are we overlooking the fact that she knew about this site by name yet would not post here? That seems fishy. I guess that would require her to sign up for an account and then someone would have her real name.
That's exactly why I asked the question I did...are we sure she isn't lurking around here? As for her story that she sent...phooey. I don't buy it...and I'm not a demo for any company. It makes me very sad to think she is saying she is handicapped and will go back to the streets if eBay shuts her down. That's just not right. I have a friend who became handicapped after a terrible car accident and she wouldn't ever consider doing something like that to 1) make people feel sorry for her, or 2) to make money illegally. Makes me kind of mad really.

I too am handicapped (MS) and think the only offensive part of what you said is the part about compassion twords her. I don't buy the handicapped woman story for a second. The story doesn't add up. She would have been homeless and selling on ebay at the same time because of how long her store has been running. I sell on ebay and I know that being homeless would not work with the selling situation.
