I will be attending my first Scrapfest next month in Minneapolis and wondered if anyone can give me an overall idea of what to expect.
I have been to a Rubber Stamp Expo where vendors are there selling their products. Are the vendors at Scrapfest there to sell theirs ,or are they actually there as Exhibitors demonstrating their products, which you then have to buy at an Archivers store? Thanks so much for any info.
They are demonstrating their products and do free make and takes. There are also classes available to take that you pay for, but you need to be signed up for those. The free make and take lines get long, but it's fun to socialize while you're waiting and the booths sometimes give out free stuff to keep everyone excited. Archiver's has their store on the 3rd (?) level, but they also have another area on the first level where you can buy things. It gets crazy up there, but it sure is fun!

You are correct. Exhibitors demo products, which you then can buy at Archiver's.
I've been to it a few times. Very crazy. Lines incredibly long for Make and Takes. Classes were fun, and most Exhibitors who did classes gave you a "Free Bag of Stuff" at the class that equated to the price of the class, essentially paying for the class. I'd sign up for classes, if any are still available (they may all be full----they fill quickly).
My best friend and I went 2 years ago. The lines were ridiculous for the make and takes, but a couple of the classes were good - if you can get in them before they sell out. The BEST part was a crop at a local archivers store the next night that was sponsored by a vendor who gave away a ton of stuff.
Thank you for the info. Sounds like a lot of time will be spent waiting in line.
Crazy question but ...how do you know what m& t is being made at each table? Do you have to get close enough to each table to look first then get in line---- or is there a board so you know where each one is and at which end of the mall to start at. Thanks again.
We were given materials at registration that described each make and take so we could select what we wanted to make. Turns out, we weren't willing to wait 45 minutes at any of the stations to make a simple card. Other than the actual classes, which were really rushed and didn't have enought time to complete the projects, the day was pretty much a scrapbooking bust for us. But we had a marvelous lunch, got plenty of exercise walking around the mall, and road a rollercoaster and log ride.

You'll be able to go up closer to the table and see the card, then get in line.

It sounds like you would not go back strictly for the scrapfest.I am not a scrapbooker and it does appear to be more slanted in that direction.I am going with a friend ,and if I think the lines are not worth the wait I also plan on doing some Christmas shopping. I can always use a new pair of shoes ;)
I notice that you live in Flagstaff ,and wondered if you have ever attended the show in Mesa in early March at the Convention Centre? We spend part of our winter there, and I have not been able to attend due to family visiting at that time each year. If so, how would you rate that one?
Thanks for your input.
Hey Canada Goose! I'm going to scrapfest for the first time. I managed to sign up for some classes and getting really excited. Thanks for posting your questions...it gives me a little idea of what to expect!
