Default Removing Paint From Stamps

I have borrowed some stamps from my SIL for my DD birthday party invitations. Although I told her when she bought them to clean the stamps after stamping with them, there is paint all over them. I don't know what type of paint. I cannot get a decent image now. Any ideas about how to remove paint from stamps? Thanks for your help!

I've gotten paint off stamps with warm water and a toothbrush. It probably depends on what type of paint though. I would try putting them on a hot, soggy washcloth and then using the toothbrush.
