So I wanted to let you all know out there that I tried microwaving my stamps to peel off the rubber to remount it and it worked!!!
I cut the piece off that I wanted - well, sliced through it with a X-acto knife. I then placed it in the microwave for 5 seconds - I check it and it didn't come off well. So I 'nuked it again for another 5 seconds and it peeled right off. I got to stick it down where I wanted it and it stuck like a charm!!!
This is perfect for all of you who have accidentally mounted the sticker wrong from the stamp - but I have never done that!!! (Yeah, right).
Anyway - good luck and happy stamping to all!!!
Amy

I just did that w/ my French Script bg stamp... I couldn't figure out how to correct the situation! So what you are saying is that after you peeled it off, it stuck back down w/ no problem?
I was told to "nuke" for about 10-12 seconds and the rubber does come off easily. You do have to be careful because the wood tends to get a bit warm. It works great though if you need to re-mount stamps.
if you are doing a big bg like the french script aklso be careful that it is loosened throughout. If you get to teh point where it is still really stuck down (like towards the middle) you may need to zap it a few more sceonds so you don't rip the rubber from the foam

Kate I do mine full power but 5 second increments b/c we have a new microwave that is stronger than the old one. Smaller stamos are fine with 5 (like an alphabet letter) while learger ones need just a few more seconds.

I just did this with some of my stamps, but the leftover adhesive sticky part on the wood was really bugging me. So I used clear nail polish over the sticky part, and then all around on the bottom. Got rid of the sticky, and will protect the wood from staining now that I'm a new demo and lots of others will be using my stamps!

OK, this thread is very timely for me. I finally acquired a second set of Fabulous Four so I can make one into background stamps. I've never remounted stamps before and I don't want to blow it. I would also like to mount the words on the side so I don't want to mess them up either. Talk about a learning project! Anybody out there done this with this set, or a similar one? It looks pretty tricky to me. I appreciate any advice on this. Thanks! Linda

When I first started stamping I didn't cut mine as close as I should have. My demo told me to put them in the micro. I did this to 5 sets. Worked like a charm. Stuck back where I wanted no problem!! There is some sticky residue left on it, so I used some goo gone and took it right off!!! Good Luck!!!
I did this too. Some of mine wouldn't stick back on the wood so I just used a little super glue and have never had a problem. Also I use lighter fluid to clean up the sticky stuff and it works great!
I use this technique all the time when I have aquired a 'second set' of something. The Fab Four work well as bkgrd and separate message.
If you have non SU stamps, such as Hero Arts, etc., this technique is invaluable bc they do not mount their stamps as close as I like them. Hate that "5 o'clock shaddow" from the edge sticking out!
If you have trouble getting the rubber to stay stuck to the wood after you've peeled it off (sometimes happens to me with stamps that have been assembled for a long time - like months and months), you may need glue to get the rubber re-stuck. Elmer's wood glue is my favorite for that job.
I've actually flipped over the rubber and used my mono adhesive (permanent). I covered the surface with it and stuck it back down. Worked fine for me and hasn't come off.
I believe SU! recommendation for readhering stamps is regular old rubber cement (I haven't had that in the house since glue sticks!).
In my microwave, whatever surface I have down gets warmest, so I put the rubber side down if I'm recutting and placing that.

Okay, I'm going to blow you all away!!
My up/upline, Tina Rosenkrans actually removes stamps doing it the way you described and then sticks them onto a rubber glove that she is wearing on her right hand ........................
and then stamps on something round!!!!!!!!!!!!! Duh!!! Why didn't I think of that!!!
Flower pots.........bowls........paper mache...........anything with a curvy edge!!!
And then she just peels it off her glove and plops it back on the wood!! Tah Dah!!!
I tried it and it works!!!!
I can hear the squeals of joy from here!!!!
Those microwaves are going to be goin' full tilt all night!!!

After you microwave your stamp, use the Hobby Blade (ie, Xacto knife) to help peel the stamp from the wood, that way you can scrape any adhesive from the wood and redirect it to the foam for use when remounting your stamp.
