paper storage

Beginner question here and not sure if this is where I post...

How do you store your paper? By color, like all the greens together? By the color sets of papers?
TIA!

Hello and welcome to SCS! I store my paper in a hanging file folder...each color has its own folder labeled with the color and then they are grouped by color families (bold brights and soft subtles in one box and rich regals and earth elements in the other).

HTH!

Welcome! Right now I have my paper stored in those plastic storage drawers. I just have one drawer per color family, but when I get more paper in January, I might have to have one color family in two drawers. Anyway, it works for me. I just bought my drawers at Walmart. They are the set of 3 that are the 12x12 size drawers. Hope that helps.

Right now I don't have enough room to store my paper/CS with one color/pattern on a shelf/drawer. I'm using hanging filefolders for some CS and drawers/magazine style holders for the 12x12 stuff.

Wink Paper Storage

Hello and welcome. I store my card stock in a file cabinet - each in own folder and filed by color family.

I use the Creative Memories paper tote...I have 2...one for 12x12 and one for 8.5x11. This is great because when I go to a crop all I have to do is close the flap and go!

I also use the hanging file method in a plastic file box from Staples. All the colors are by family and each has its own folder with the color listed. I just have to remember to put the lid on so the sun doesn't bleach out the top of my cardstock.

Thank you so much everyone! I have the CM paper file for that paper, maybe I can just get another one for SU paper. I also like the hanging file idea too! I think I will group them by the color families that way when the card calls for a color I can just go to that family.

I have the store in style files that holds the 12x12 files... I have two and each one has two color families (one holds the neutrals as well!) Love them!

Default Hanging file folders

I store my paper in hanging file folders in a file cabinet. I suggest keeping your paper covered and protected from sunlight, as my first storage idea which was uncovered, left me with some bleached ends. I used to store by color family, but found that I knew my color names well enough that my preference now is alphabetically. I store my colored cardstock in my top drawer and neutrals in the bottom. I've also tried a variety of methods for my scraps and found that keeping them in a page protector in the hanging file with the larger sheets seems to work for getting them used more often. Sometimes when I'm in a stamping frenzy, I tend not to file my scraps right away. I'm currently reorganizing my stamp room and will be placing a letter tray near by for un-filed scraps to file when I have time. With this being said, I think that your paper purchasing habits will dictate some of how you organize your paper. If you will be using all SU cardstock, then you could organize by name or color family, but if you are going to use cardstock from different manufacturers, you may find that filing by color (reds, greens, blues, etc) may work better for you.
