Smile Oriental Christmas?

I hope someone can help me out here. I'm doing a presentation to a group of ladies in a Joy Luck Club. The lady who is setting it up would like me to show some Christmas cards. My question is, and forgive me for being culturally insensitive, is there an Oriental looking Christmas card? Ya know, in America we use red and green, typically. Is there an oriental version? Should I come up with something using the Kanji set? Am I being insensitive to assume they wouldn't want traditional american looking christmas cards? I would ask the lady setting up the event, but I'd like to look culturally savy. Please help!

Thanks

I am a very amateur stamper, so excuse me if my terminology is off! But I'm half Chinese American and though I only visited China briefly, my sister was there for a year. (I'm assuming a Joy Luck Club is composed of Chinese women.) We actually discussed how they do have a few Christmas products there, but they are "off." It's hard to explain, but they're just not right! That's because they really don't have Christmas there. So, they are most likely expecting western Christmas cards.

You could perhaps do a card that is asian looking, though, but still a christmas card by using bright red and a background that is asian inspired, meaning brocade looking or with bamboo? If you wanted to choose a character, maybe one that says "Peace." Just a few thoughts. HTH!

Hi there! My friend forward me this post.
The Chinese Christmas cards I remember were very
western. I don't really think there's a special Chinese way to make a
Christmas card. You should probably go with a traditional Christmas cards and use maybe red and gold. Chinese people love those colors.

HTH,
Kris

I am half oriental and the cards my mother received from home and friends in the States were usually the traditional style we are accustomed to seeing. I agree that the Peace stamp from Kanji would be fantastic. Embossed in gold on red paper with a green accent, maybe ?

OK...I think I have a better idea now what to do. There will be a lot of women there so I might offer western and asian inspired cards. Now to come up with some samples!

Thanks
