Default Old Catalogs ??

As a customer (not a demo), is there a good reason to hang onto all my old catalogs? If so, what are they?

I rarely if ever look at any besides the most current, and maybe the one before that. I'd really prefer the space back on my shelves!

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

They are designed to not only showcase the current stamps, but give ideas for card layouts and project designs.

I go back to my old ones to look at layouts and color combos! If you didn't want to keep your old catalogs, maybe you could cut out the layouts and color combos you liked!

They would come in handy to cut out the pictures of what comes in the stamp set, you know, if you would want to organize your sets!

If you don't use them, get rid of them! There are lots of ideas for layouts and color combos here on SCS. More than any catalog.

I go through them every once in awhile - it's neat to see how styles change - I hardly ever get rid of ANYTHING!!!!

I keep mine for layout and color inspiration. If, however, you don't see yourself gloing back to them for ideas then I also vote for unloading them-though you ought to try listing them on the BST boards before sending them tot he landfill because your trash may be someone else's treasure!

I always keep one copy of each past catalog for personal reference -- not just for ideas, but also so I can look up the original retail price for my retired stamp sets!

I've bought alot of the older catalogs on EBay, they are great for looking up old stamp sets!

Default Old cattys

I hang on to mine for about 3 years just because it takes me that long (yes, its true) to use up all the designer paper I order. Sometimes a couple of years later I forget the color combos that went into the DP and I need to check it! I wonder if there'd be a way to save the file from the website to my computer and that would save some space but honestly, I still like to go back and look at those older catalogs because some of the ideas are so great. More than 3 years, though, and they start to look outdated because so many new products and techniques have come up so I toss those older ones.

I cut up my old catalogs and put the pictures of the projects of the stamp sets I own in the box with the stamps. That way, if I ever need quick inspiration or my internet service is down, I have a couple of ideas handy. Otherwise, I am in the camp of if you don't use them. lose them. Great question, by the way.

I gotta agree with the Goddess here. There are lots of us "completers" out here. Completers have to have the whole set. Set of ink? Can't buy just one. Color family? Better have them all! Catalogs? Must have all catalogs, just in case I want to look up a retired set to see if I want to buy it off the BST on SCS...

It's not necessarily healthy, but there's plenty of us who suffer from the completer affliction. If your catties don't sell within a week or so, you can always recycle them then!

Ideas and more ideas. Granted, some styles are out of the current trends, but lots are really great to use.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I know that it is designed to highlight the stamp with ideas but honestly I get my ideas other ways. Wouldn't it be nice to get a booklet of ideas with each stamp set specifically for that one in particular?

Whenever I get a new stamp set I make 2 copies of the sticker page. One goes in a folder so I have a record of all my sets, and the other I cut out and put in the bottom of the stamp box so I can easily see what stamps are in the set from either side. That is espcially useful when I'm putting them away - lol!

I'm going to sit down and look through them one more time before I pass them on one way or the other (rest assured - I will not be putting them in the garbage).

I like to hang onto things too - that's why I have so many!!

I use layouts from one set for other stamps as well! Sometimes I'll spot a project I love but I don't like the stamps used, or I don't own that particular set but see similarities to a set that I do own!
