A new use for an old (non stampin') tool

I am so distressing challenged. That slightly curled edge on a mat? Can't do it. I saw that Heidi Swapp now has an Edge Distresser -- looks a lot like a envelope slitter to me, but I tried one of those, and it's just too sharp.

An then -- inspiration -- I tried my old Pampered Chef orange peeler. Got the edge I've been trying for!

A little thing, but a nice start to the weekend.

I can't seem to do it either - so what did you do?

Ran the part of the peeler that looks like a hook across the edge of the cs. Then you can use the pointy end to pick apart the layers of cs even more.

Great tip! Another kitchen tool that is going to end up in the stamping room!;) Distressing is hard on the fingernails so I was trying to think of something else to use...thanks!

An orangewood manicure stick works great! Use the beveled edge to work between the layers of paper. If you should happen to get any glue or adhesive on the "tool" just sand it down with an old emery board.

I just got the making memories distress kit as I really wanted the edge distresser in it. I'm pretty sure that the MM one and also the one in the link above is a razor blade in a holder so that you can't cut yourself.
